Packing the kids off to Grandma and Grandpa’s house which leaves us with a dilema at the local movie theater.
“Me, Myself and Irene.” or “MI-2”.
Now, I know no one here ever has an opinion on anything… but which one should we see???

I prefered Mission Impossible 2, unrealstic as some of the fight scenes were, to Me, Myself and Irene, which IMO drags after a while. I liked Chicken Run better than both. I’m personally going to see The Perfect Storm tonight. My brother recomends it.
Well, just in case the two of you are not in the mood for unrealistic action nor slapstick comedy, you can try to catch Keeping the Faith if it’s still playing in theatres. Otherwise, I’d go for The Perfect Storm.
Don’t see the storm one. The full-length preview gave me nausea.
If “Small Time Crooks” is still around, go with that.
Just saw The Patriot this weekend, and I recommend it highly. It is Braveheart in kneepants. If you’re British, you night want to give it a miss, though. (Between the portrayals of the English in Braveheart and in The Patriot, I’m guessing Mel Gibson won’t be traveling to London anytime soon)
Stay home and rent a classic romantic movie.
Or rent (go see, if available) a good independent, non-Hollywood movie. Why are we all so enthralled by the West Coast film industry?
James Bond - suave + latex masks = Mission Impossible
Not bad for an evening’s entertainment. Heck we’re just glad we made it out of the house!
I’d go for Small Time Crooks. If you’re not into Woody Allen, see Groove, if it’s available in your area. You might also want to check out that foreign film, Croupier about a corrupt roulette dealer, which might be hard to find, depending on where you live.
Gladiator really rocked. Shanghai noon was amusing. Perfect storm was cool.
rent these if you havent seen them already:
The Game
Gattaca
Good Will Hunting
The Matrix
Shawshank Redemption
Rentals for a nice romantic evening:
Like Water for Chocolate
When Harry Met Sally
Before Sunrise
Stay home and rent?? Are you people crazy??
I think some of you may be missing the point of the OP. rundogrun has packed off the kids!
I’ve got three kids under the age of six at home so I speak from experience here: when you have a kid-free night, you absolutely must leave the house! My wife and I are in the same situation this week (kiddies at the grandparents) and we have this amazing fantasy evening lined up:
Going out to dinner at a resturaunt where the menu isn’t posted above the cash registers.
and
Seeing a movie (a real popcorn movie, dammit!) on a big screen. A movie that does not feature Barney, Elmo, or Tigger. A big-budget, who-cares-if-it’s-bad-I-want-to-be-entertained, Hollywood action picture. We’re thinking Mission Impossible.
Hmmm…I wonder if they will be able to tell I don’t get out much.
‘Me, Myself & Irene’ and ‘Shanghai Noon’ were both hilarious!
