There was movie that came out in the early 80s that began with the 20th Century Fox Fanfare (like Star Wars) and then had “A long time ago in a Galaxy Far Far Away” (like Star Wars) but then it was add “Something, Indiana” which was the town the movie was set. The movie was a comedy set in a small town. That’s all I can remember. When I was a kid my friend and I would get tricked thinking Star Wars was about to start on HBO when this movie came on but I can’t remember the name of it. Does it ring any bells with anyone? Thanks.
The only bell I hear is a similarity to the TV series Eerie, Indiana. I don’t know about the Star Wars-like credits, though.
Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise (1987): “The film opens with a Star Wars-like crawl (preceded by Skolnick’s pocket protector) summarizing the Tri-Lambs exploits from the first film.”
They may have done it too but that isn’t the movie I am thinking of. The movie as I recall was a comedy drama set in a small town.
I’m thinking Mischief. “Ohio, 1956.” Raunchy '80s sex comedy, but if you can get it on Netflix, it’s worth checking out Terry O’Quinn as one guy’s dad. About two minutes of screen time, but he completely outacts the two lead guys.
Yay!
That was it! Thanks! Funny how I was positive it was Indiana.
Kelly Preston (John Travolta’s wife) in full buff in that movie.
Memory is some crazy sh!t.
Two different staff tried to help a patron the other day who was looking for a movie. Long story short, she was looking for one of two dueling movies: White House Down or Olympus Has Fallen, and she swore up and down it was neither of them, on the grounds that Jamie Foxx wasn’t in it and Morgan Freeman wasn’t in it. Between the two of us, we looked for what movie this could possibly be for 15-20 minutes.
She came back the next day to let us know she’d found it: Olympus Has Fallen.
