You know, I like Will Smith but someone needs to slap him and say “JUST MAKE A COUPLE OF HOME MOVIES LIKE THE REST OF THE GODDAMN WORLD, MAN!” These $100million vanity projects for his kids are really getting on my tits.
NBC has committed to another live musical.
In the style of the SOML?
I’d be into Kiss Me Kate or Wicked.
Would you accept Hugh Laurie?
I have been thinking about it and while it wouldn’t be my number one choice, I’ll bet money it will be The King and I. It fits all their needs: it’s family friendly, has leads you can cast to draw an audience, it’s well known but not played out. I think that is the one they will go with assuming rights aren’t an issue.
Oh dear god, someone please make this happen.
Hugh Laurie can sing (so, for that matter, can Kelsey Grammer). That would be wasted as Henry Higgins. Make him Emile.
“She Loves Me” would also be nice and family friendly. It’s a familiar story (even if it lacks the familiar title), it’s fun, and it’s Christmas themed.
My Beloved and I would like to see 1776.
Wicked is still raking in lots of money on stage, plus you can bet there will be a “real” film version of it at some point. Thus, the chances of it being broadcast on a regular network at this point in time is about zip.
Anything but “Peter Pan”, please?
Actually, Peter Pan - starring Kirstie Alley as Peter Pan flying around - sounds rather entertaining.
The remake of The Music Man (I assume you’re thinking of the Matthew Broderick version) was filmed, not staged. That wouldn’t stop NBC from doing a staged version.
I was under the impression that Willow decided she didn’t want to do Annie, so they cast Quvenzhane Wallis in her place.
