What new technology do you use in your daily activities as opposed to previous ways?

I’m using the Rosetta Stone software to learn German. It’s actually quite fun.

No French/English ebook dictionary available from B&N or Amazon? I find that very surprising.

I just got a Kobo Glo bookreader and must search for F/E dictionaries for it…

Odd. I’m not seeing many standard dictionaries either. Grammar guides, smaller specialized dictionaries, slang, lessons, verb guides, cooking reference, business French, French for Dummies*, Quebecois slang, even How To Talk Dirty In French… but no general-purpose dictionaries.

*I have French for Dummies, and I don’t recommend it for one reason: the pronunciation guide is grossly misleading.

Most of mine is related to the iPad; I read the newspaper on my iPad, I have all of my company manuals on the iPad, and I use the iPad for my pilot logbook. I haven’t used a chequebook since the 1990s. I use a computer/iPad app to keep track of my finances.

I love that about my DVR, too, the time I save by skipping commercials, which I hate anyway. It’s also nice to be able to time-shift viewing when you have a household member who works second shift (2pm to 10:30pm).

'nuther iPad user.

It has replaced my daily newspaper, most of my magazines and along with a Bluetooth speaker, my radio. It has almost replaced my laptop and desktop - which are now used mostly for bill paying and record keeping.

I text message occasionally on my smartphone, but most of that is done with iMessage on the iPad. Thanks to TalkATone and google voice, I also us the iPad to handle some phone calls.

Oh yeah, folded paper maps are now just a memory…
