I have been watching this show since the first season, and I have gone from being disgusted by Jeff Lewis to loving him so much I could just squeeze him til he pops.
I think he is incredibly funny and adorable, and I also think he’s done something highly unusual for reality TV stars: he’s actually grown and changed as a person, largely from being able to observe himself at a remove and see how awful he was. He’s way better than he was when the show began. WAY better.
I also think (for those who’ve been with the show all along) that his ex-partner was absolutely full of shit. I discovered what he was doing about a month before it showed up on the show and I was shocked. I looked for Jeff Lewis and bam…Brown Design. It was low.
But their falling out made me enormously sad because I LOVED watching Jeff interact with Ryan’s little girl, it was darling and insanely funny and Jeff obviously adored her.
I’m glad for me that Jenni’s back in front, she’s way more entertaining than Trace and Sarah. LOVE Zoila, and she got some great work! I want to know who her surgeon was!
I don’t really understand why or how Jeff ever thought he could possibly pull of Chase’s salon from 3,000 miles away, however much he wanted to. No contacts, no vendors he knows… what’s he thinking?
And wow…that woman on Sunshine Terrace??? Holy mother of god, who does she think she is and on what planet does she imagine she’s behaving in a manner that’s remotely acceptable? Christ…
I am bumping my own zombie because I was looking to see if Flipping Out has ever been a topic here on the dope before I introduced it…and discovered I introduced it! Four years ago, and no one cared! Has anyone come to love Jeff in the ensuing time? I still adore him.
It’s also a fascinating look deep into the lives of the wealthy, if not the famous. And design, and Los Angeles (I live here) and remodeling, and contracting, and perfectionism, and entrepreneurship… It’s just so fun/educational on so many levels!
If anyone IS watching… I’m a little confused about how they can start this season talking about how Jeff has had to cut back on sleep in order to deal with his schedule…not to mention Gage, and then pursue having a child?? Seriously? Really? Do you guys understand that there are only 24 hours in the day and you can’t keep going like this and be good parents at the same time? Something has to give, boys…
Anyway… this is a wonderful show and I have a hopeless FagHag crush on Jeff.I would just laugh myself stupid if I got to hang around him. (I also marvel at him and Gage both in terms of their productivity and perfectionism. Being the hopeless mess that I am in these areas with my raging ADD they seem like alien beings: humans can function at that level of detailed perfectionism?? Wow…)
I haven’t watched it in awhile, but I did notice Jeff’s behavior doing a 180-turn between the older and newer episodes. Great for him because IMO he did come off like an ass in the earlier episodes. It’s nice to see an arc like that, particularly in reality TV.
Speaking of which I haven’t watched anything on Bravo since the last Top Chef…
I too have been watching pretty much from the beginning. I really enjoy this show and especially Jeff. I just watched last nights episode a few hours ago. This season is shaping up nicely and I’m hoping we get to see the process they go through with IVF.
Absolutely. I’ve been thinking the same thing since the season began and they’ve been moving forward quickly with the baby process. Seeing Jeff & Gage with their pets really shows what devotion they will have to their child. Some of the saddest episodes was last year when they had to put Monkey down and this year their other cat (can’t recall his name).
