What? No mags at the barber shop?

SO calls and says he’s headed to the barber shop after work.
He’s worried that he’ll get the guy who gives him “Frankenstein Head.”
I tell him to ask them to thin the hair around the bangs and sides, or better yet, flip through a mag and find a pic of a guy’s hair to show the barber.
His reaction?
(snarkily) “There are no magazines at the guy places, only at the girls’ places. We don’t sit around and read magazines while we’re waiting, and definitely don’t find a guy whose hair we want.
Pfffffffftt.
That’s just…dumb.”
True?
I can’t imagine waiting anywhere for anything without reading material!
So, guys, whaddaya do? Stare at the ceiling?

Who knew?

My guess your SO is going to one of the old-time barbers who keep Playboys & Penthouses around. I’ve been going to the same barbershop for nearly a decade and they always have stacks of magazines around, of course they cater to both men and women but their magazines seem geared mainly toward the men. For example: PCWorld, Car & Driver, Road & Track, Guns 'n Ammo, and (if asked) the aforementioned Playboy.

I don’t recall ever seeing any Cosmo or Family Circle or anything like that but those may be buried under the other mags.

Well, I don’t expect a Cosmo or such, but what’s wrong with a Guns n Ammo here and there?
Now, if it’s Playboy or Penthouse, of course he’s not gonna find some dude’s hair to model his after. First of all, he’s not going for that “porn hair” look, AFAIK. Secondly, he doesn’t want to be checking out the guys in these “mags” too closely!
Ha!
This is too entertaining!
Guess I’ll see if he’s randy when he gets home!

Back when I wasn’t shaving my head I went to a place called The Yankee Clipper. One guy owned and ran it and he actually lived in the shop. He had a pool table and 1000’s of mens magazines. I don’t just mean Playboy & Penthouse, but Hustler, Chic, Club, etc. with the occasional Sports Illustrated thrown in.
