What North American stores sell dress pants for 12 year olds?

I have tried Wal-Mart, Zellers, The Bay, Tip Top, Mexx, Fairweathers, Winners, and a few others and cannot find dress pants for a 12 year old male. His graduation from elementary school to junior high is Thursday.

Sears perhaps? Mark’s Work Warehouse? Help!

It’s been awhile since I had a 12 year old boy, but Sears definitely sold them back in the day. Also Pennys and Macy’s.

Do you have Kohl’s? They’d be a good bet.

Nope. No Pennys or Macy’s either.

Hmm…no Kohls or JCPenny’s… Is there a Land’s End? How about a local store for school uniforms?

ETA: Mark’s doesn’t have boy sizes on their website. Is he big enough to fit into men’s sizes?

No Land’s End.

I didn’t measure his waist, but it’s probably like 26" - 28". Not big enough for mens.

Maybe it would help if you tell us, roughly, where you live.

My ex was a 26-32 for a while (yeah, beanpole), so I do know that men’s sizes start around 26. Might have to have them shortened, though.

Ottawa, ON.

I was about that size until I was 27. (i wore a boys size 12 in pants) I had good luck at Burlington coat factory.

Well, there is one of those 2 hours away in Watertown, NY. Thanks, but I need something closer for this shopping experience!

There’s a Children’s Place on Carling Ave. The chain sells both boy’s dress pants and school uniforms, up to “pre-teen” sizes.

There’s also Growing Kids on Riverside Dr., which is a specialty store for “Special Occasions”, and also has school uniforms.

Boomerang Kids Consignment might be worth a try, too. Dress pants are often a great find at a consignment store, since kids don’t wear them often before outgrowing them.

How about Canadian Tire? I thought they sold everything. Seriously, though, if you can’t find dress pants, just get the dressiest pants (i.e., not blue jeans) you can find in a decent department store. It’s a grade school graduation; no one is going to notice or care.

You should run for public office!

Good Google-fu. Thank you very much. Sears is on Carling Ave. too. Maybe we should make the journey. Consignment is a great idea, but of course my son would probably fight me like a rabid weasel if I was to suggest it.

There are no “dressiest pants.” I’m not kidding. Everything is blue jeans and khaki cargo pants. Sign of the times, I guess.

Please, Google-fu is so last century. That there was yelp*-fu!

I’m surprised Tip Top didn’t have anything for a young adolescent. I’m sure I got a pair of pants from there when I was about that age, but maybe I was taller than the kid in question.

I think dress clothes are falling out of fashion very quickly, and that anything that is slow moving or takes up floor space (especially in this economy) is not going to be part of a store’s inventory.

Doubly so for kids’ dress clothes apparently. It looks like we may need to find a specialty store like WhyNot suggested.

Jcrew Crew Cuts size 14 should fit.

But if you want to try them on in store you have to find a jcrew that carries the Crew Cuts kids stuff, which is not all of them. Also it’s pretty expensive.

Don’t do on-line shopping; not enough time left anyway. Stores are in US only, by the looks of it.

Thanks though.

Shit, I believe it. I was just coming to suggest plain khaki pants or school uniform pants. Around here, those can be found pretty reliably at Target.
