Mugabe’s gone – what next?
Mugabe was deposed almost two years ago, so I suppose things will continue as usual.
It will take some time to get rid of his former rotten regime colleagues. but at least death has started the process - just needs to accelerate the shedding of evil corrupt party hacks.
From what I gather, more of the same.
The new president was basically Mugabe s executor for many years, and although he has said some of the right words to the West, he’s also started putting down opposition with lethal force. And he’s done little to clean house.
The only cause for hope is that Mugabe was apparently a very charismatic man, and therefore still enjoyed the support of many African leaders. That support should now dwindle away, and external pressure could build.
The economic and political situation is likely to worsen in the short run.
