This is not set in stone, and if there’s something interesting happening in a certain forum, I’ll change my order. If I spot something interesting or somebody I know as the latest thread on the front page, I’ll go there first.
I just go from top to bottom, skipping CCC and CSR (except when there’s a new column) and GD.

Depends on what threads I’m participating in. I usually wind up starting in the BBQ Pit or Cafe Society, then work my way up or down from the starting point.

Then I usually head back into the Pit or GQ. I don’t post in either of those places very often, however, even though I often find issues that rile me up, I have nothing useful to contribute that either hasn’t already been said, or is simply an opinion that I don’t feel will have much influence (ie: the half that agrees with me already will nod, and the half that doesn’t will shake their heads… violently… with curse words - but otherwise, it wouldn’t have shifted the weight of the argument one way or another). I chime in once in a while, though, even if it’s useless information, or just personal experience. I try to keep in the mindset that if I’m going to say anything in the Pit or GQ, I want it to be worthwhile. A quick search would reveal that that hasn’t happened yet, though

MPSIMS, the Pit, Cafe Society, IMHO, Great Debates, General Questions–generally, not much else.
I only check out the mundane and the general…

It seems a lot of us avoid Great Debates.
Let’s face it, places like GQ, Cafe Society, MPSIS will produce genuine answers OR a thread gets some participation and a new one comes along.
However, I bet I could go into Great Debates right now and find threads like “Abortion Is Murder”, “A Woman Has the Right To Choose” , etc. Two years from now I bet I could go into Great Debates and find the exact same topics being discussed with probably the same arguments, examples, cites, etc.
When I first started on the SDMB, Great Debates was the #1 spot I’d visit and/or post. Basically, I’ve given up.
I check my subscribed threads first. Then MPSIMS, IMHO, CS, GD, GQ, and then the Pit for last. If nothing’s brewing, sometimes I do a little vanity search, but since many people don’t type my username exactly right, I often don’t find myself. I also occasionally do username searches on Dopers whose posts I find interesting.
What’s that? Of course you’re all talking about me. How could you not?

I am shocked (Shocked! I tell you) at how few people go to their user control panel first to check subscribed threads. That’s actually the link I use to get here, so it’s always the first stop for me.
Then I always check GQ.
If I have time, I proceed to other fora, in an order that depends on my mood. Usually MPSIMS, the pit (only if I’m feeling grouchy), and GD, followed by others in random order.
