Dammit, this is what I get for answering the phone when my Sweet Pea calls. Clearly my priorities are messed up. :smack:
I don’t understand the word “NO” and I am struggling with the word “DOGS”.
I like this answer the best.
Hm. You could do an end-run around your father. Let your landlord in on the story. When your father arrives tell him he has to talk to the landlord about the dog. Stand back and enjoy. The bonus is that you’re not the bad guy who disowned her father.
Probably more hassle than it’s worth, but it might actually be fun to watch.
My dog Sweet Pea is calling you?
Since your already so pissed at his bullshit, calling off the visit is probably the best. You know even if you have it out with him on the phone he will show up with the dog.
Have you considered rat poison, for both of them?
Actually, the thing that has me going WTF is that he already dropped off one dog. He couldn’t bring himself to part with the other? Aunt Mary hates Chiquita? He’s deliberately being as much of an ass as he can?
You know, I wouldn’t even worry about it at this point. You know exactly where the line is - if he brings a dog, he isn’t staying at your house. When he shows up, you’ll either have to point it out to him then, or it won’t be a problem because he will have made arrangements before then (unlikely, I know). Yes, there might be some drama over this, but there is no grey area - you’ve made your boundaries very clear right from the start, and he gets to experience the repercussions if he won’t listen to them.
My sympathies for a family member who will put you in a position like that. Try not to let him give you a stroke.
Where are all the people from this thread who wanted to kill the dog the moment it displayed aggression toward a child? Why does a chihuahua get a break? C’mon, fearmongers, there’s killin’ to be done!
Flawless logic.
For less than the price of a motel, you could hire two guys named Vinny to kidnap the dog somewhere en route.
It could be that your dad has already had plans to drop the dog off somewhere else when you contacted him, but given your hyper reaction/assumption to the news that he’s only dropped one dog off has decided to withhold that piece of information and let you stew in your lack of faith in him
It sounds to me like the father mentioned he was bringing Chiquita, and phall0106 responded with silence. A hyper and presumptuous reaction indeed.
Won’t work that way, at least not in Fort Worth. The animal will have to have BEEN vaccinated for a certain length of time, in order for the vaccinations to have enough time to develop antibodies. I don’t think this is unreasonable. Sometimes it’s inconvenient, but not unreasonable.
Unlike the OP’s father, who is inconvenient and unreasonable.
What we know from the OP is that Chiquita coming could just as easily be read as the OP’s conclusion based on only one dog dropped off at this point.
I’m not seeing it. He left Tulsa after dropping off the other dog, he’s now outside of Knoxville, and he says he’s bringing the dog (in capital letters), and is apparently surprised that the dog is not welcome - where’s the room for misinterpretation? Where’s he planning to drop off the dog, some random kennel in Tennessee?
You might, perhaps, care to google “Labrador”. I’d be more worried about leaving it out in the summer.
Aren’t dog license tags given out as proof that a dog’s shots are up to date?
Veterinarians are not kennels. I’m sure that most vets have the ability to house an animal that is not up on its shots.
For instance, if someone “accidentally” sat on Chiquita while on this visit, and the dog needed surgery, do you think any vet worth his salt would tell you the dog can’t stay overnight because it’s not up on its shots?
