I can’t even remember the last time I made an actual phone call. The closest I’ve come is the occasional call using the Skype on my computer. An actual phone call with a phone? It’s been over a year. With my cell phone? I can’t even remember.
I’ve got a Motorola Moto G6. I got it because it was unlocked and I can use it with Consumer Cellular, which offers an AARP discount. My old Samsung Galaxy S7 was acting up so I traded it in when we switched carriers.
The only thing I don’t like about the G6 is that the on/off button is on the side, right where I put my thumb when I pick up the phone.
The power button is on the side on the large majority of phones, I would think.
What gets me is that people with flip phones have to announce it as such. It’s a point of pride I suppose. In this thread, none of the iPhone or Pixel users have said (for example), “ I have an iPhone 6s smartphone.” But rather than give a model number like every one else, the flip phoners just gotta let you know.
It’s the same way with my real life friends.
iPhone 8+ running 13.3-ish
nothing wrong with it, does what I need it to, battery is still at 85% health and I use it hard every day, lives in an Otterbox Defender case with tempered glass screen protector, still looks new
my mother’s old 6 died and she had to get a new phone so she went for the base model iPhone 11 64 GB, and coming from her old 16 GB 6, it was a significant upgrade
I’ve played with her 11, and its a good phone, but I see no compelling reason to upgrade my 8+ yet, do I want the 11 Pro Max? yes, do I NEED the 11 Pro Max? NO, i’m keeping the 8+ until it dies, I just paid it off this month, and i’m not getting back under payments thankyouverymuch…
LG V30 Android
I have an iPhone 5S that I bought on eBay to replace my previous 5S. Absolutely the best balance of size, functionality, and reliability I’ve found.

I’m an iconoclast. I have a Sony Android phone. Most people don’t even know that Sony makes smartphones. It is very nice, holds a charge for two days, and cost under $300 a year ago. And it has a dedicated “shutter” button on the side for taking photos.
Why?
I’m neither proud nor ashamed.
If I’d said mine was a Z232 I would have felt like someone on a thread about “What’s your current operating system” saying “WB 4.1” in a thread where most folks were saying “Win 7” or “Win 10 / 1909” or “OS X 10.13”.
We know ours is out of mainstream (and old) so we don’t expect you to know what our model (or even manufacturer + model) implies so we spell it out.
Two year old iPhone X. I tend to upgrade about every 3 years, so I’m waiting until next Fall.
We just replaced my son’s hand-me-down 6S+ with a new 11. He’s an art student, and the camera upgrade was worth it for him. We got a $120 trade-in for the old one, which is pretty good for a 4 year old phone.
My wife was thinking of upgrading her 7 this past weekend, but when she held the 11 models, she found them too big. Her battery was dying, so we just had that replaced for $50 at the Apple Store–dropped it off, went to dinner, came back and picked it up. Should buy her another couple of years with it.
