I can’t remember what or who. I think it was kinda scary.

Sorry, I found it.
I’d googled the phrase with no luck, then I wiki’d it, both with no luck. Then I googled again and found this. Maybe I can find it (the movie).

If it’s not that one it may be Tales of Terror.
The movie consists of three stories and the one I’m thinking if is The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar. Vincent Price plays Valdemar, a dying man who has hired mesmerist Basil Rathbone to hypnotize him just before he dies in the hopes that the trance will continue after death and he may be able to communicate what happens beyond.
He’s put into the trance on his deathbed and when he dies we hear a sepulchral voice coming from him. “What is this place?” He then describes what he sees. It’s spooky stuff. (Great ending too).
