What political/social views would/do you express on clothing/yardsigns?

On our walk this morning, we passed a house w/ a pink flag, with a fist inside the women’s sex symbol. Nearby was a yarding saying “Abortion rights are human rights.” My wife and I both commented that we feel no urge to express our political/social views in such a manner.

Just wondering how you guys felt. Got your rainbow flag flying? Wear your MAGA hat?

I don’t express political or social opinions to the world at large, and never have. I think it’s a bit tacky (although I might wear a cool concert T-shirt). Aside from that, whenever I feel the urge these days to share my glorious thoughts, I remember that some people on the other side are downright unhinged and dangerous.

I don’t do any clothing/yard sign/bumper sticker messages. I keep a low profile.

Correction: I do have a sign in my front yard near the street that says “Drive like your pets live here.”

And for a while, along with many people in the neighborhood, I had one of these signs until it disintegrated due to weather.

I have worn Ukraine-flag facemasks since the war began on 2/24.

That’s about it for me. No bumper stickers or tee shirts.

I have a T-shirt that says “Never Underestimate An Old Man On A Bicycle”, but that’s about as far as I’d want to go.

I have a “Pet friendly” specialty license plate for my car, but I don’t dare put anything more controversial than that on my car, yard, body, etc.

I have a few…sort of political t-shirts.

One shows a mockup of a Covid-19 vaccination card. Another (that I designed) has a double helix with the slogan Food Tastes Better With DNA. There was zero reaction the one time I wore it into Whole Foods.

Mostly I stick with generic apolitical t-shirts, like the one showing a silhouette of a chainsaw-wielding figure and the words Free Hugs.

Yup. The only bumper stickers/t-shirts/yard signs that I would want to display would be guaranteed to get my house burned down here in MAGAland.

Yeah, I’m with you on that. I’m pretty sure I already know how some of my neighbors lean politically, but I don’t want to know for sure, nor do I want them to know my leanings. Our development specifically prohibits political signs and any flags other than Old Glory and the state flag, and I’m glad the HOA enforces it. I did notice one day, while driving by a house down the street with an open garage door, a large confederate flag on the wall. I wouldn’t want to see what that guy would put on a flagpole or in his front yard if he had the chance.

I don’t put any bumper stickers on my cars either. Not in this red county.

The Mrs. and I do put out a few signs, generally for presidential races, and sometimes for the Senate. We’ve also put out a BLM sign and a rainbow flag.

Frankly we did so because we are in such a conservative area, where others have no problem putting up signs in support of Trump, gun rights, backing “the badge”, etc. We want others to know that their opinions are not universal for our area.

Like others here I live in deep red Trump country and since I have no desire to be the victim of vandalism, harassment, or assault I in no way broadcast my progressive political beliefs. The closest I have is a t-shirt with the Ukraine flag colors superimposed over an outline of the country that I ordered online after the war began in February. I’ve not received any comments on it, good or bad.

The only t shirt I have that says anything reads “WWJD For A Klondike Bar?”.

I suppose my NRA and GOA shirts could be considered political views. Other than that I will put candidate signs on my yard if I am asked and side with said candidate.

I have a “Jesus hates me” t-shirt that I dearly love.

I had a series of bumper stickers that someone insisted on peeling off my truck repeatedly at one time. They removed the “Listen to Black Sabbath” one several times.

I got a T-Shirt that says, “Beer is Proof That God Loves Us and Wants Us to Be Happy” and its attributed to Ben Franklin. Close as I get I guess to either political or social.

This, except I live in the Third Province of Trump(or the 2nd Province of Brigham depending on the context)

None. Literally.

No clothing with opinions at all, no bumper or window stickers, no signs or flags at my house. No causes, no politics, no information about us at all.

Three reasons:

  1. My beliefs are personal, and I rarely share them.
  2. The overwhelming majority of the US have already made up their minds. I’m not changing anyone, just giving myself an obstacle to mow around.
  3. I think political signs/clothing strengthen your opponents’ resolve far more than helping the stated cause.

I have a couple of pro-science t-shirts. No political signs in the yard or on my car, altho I did have a Giant Meteor 2016 sticker on my car way back then.

I live in a town that is 95% white, has a lot of “police families” (particularly police that work on more diverse municipalities, and where the town literally celebrated its “lack of diversity” just a couple years ago (during the summer of BLM). Our immediate neighborhood is even whiter (and more Irish-American and more cop heavy) than the town as a whole.

While I think the one Black family that lives here might appreciate a few more BLM signs on lawns, I lack the courage to put one up. Particularly after the police were “dropping in off duty for neighborly chats” with folks who put up BLM signs in 2020.

I’ve got a Pink Pussy Hat that I was sincerely hoping I could retire in 2020. I’ve made several for other people in the past 6 years. I know some take insult at the “pink”, but I’m not trying to only represent for the privilege of pink- I would make other colors of this hat as well.
Mostly compliments, though! No challenges, so far.
