What pop songs mention a superhero?

Bryan Adams’ “Can’t Stop This Thing We Started”
“I ain’t Superman and I can’t fly
But you won’t stop me baby , don’t even try”
Matchbox20’s ‘Real World’ has a blatant reference, although they never actually use any names.

“I wonder what it’s like to be a super hero
I wonder where I’d go if I could fly around downtown
From some other planet, I get this funky high on yellow sun”

Good Charlotte sings “Superman Can’t Walk.”

“Yeah, I’ve heard the talk/Superman can’t walk/And who is gonna save you/when your Superman can’t walk?”

One of my favorites (put on a mix tape for me by an old friend) is Big Head Todd and the Monsters’ Resignation Superman

Tori Amos’ “Tear in Your Hand” mention’s Neil Gaiman’s "DreamKing’, who kinda counts I guess.

What about ‘Superman!’ by Laurie Lee

I don’t think Laurie Lee’s right–on second thoughts. Where did I get that from?

And Gaiman once threw in a reference to “Cornflake Girl” in Sandman. The two of them are friends.

Superman had a Broadway musical named after him: It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Superman. The title song (“It’s Superman”) mentions him, of course, though the best song in the score was something called “You’ve Got Possibilities,” sung by Linda Lavin.

wu tang clan used to refer to marvel superheros quite often, even took on superhero aliases. method man was johnny blaze (ghostrider), ghostface was tony starks (ironman). ghostface released an album called “ironman.”

Perhaps you are thinking of Laurie Anderson, “O Superman”?

Aquaman is subliminally dubbed into Smells Like Teen Spirit, between “a mulatto” and “an albino”.

“SuperMann” by Herbie Mann

“The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” by Genesis had the line
Wonder women, you can draw your blinds

It’s not a pop hit, but the Minstrels of Mayhem have a lovely little lullabye called “Goodnight Superman.”

Not pop either, but the Ramones have a great version of Spiderman.

Bad guys though. Also mentions the Crimson Dynamo. He and the Titanium Man were commie analogues of Iron Man.

I believe Paul McCartney met Jack Kirby in the '70s.

Lois Lane by Uncle Bonsai

She wouldn’t know love
If it only went one way
Taking off with her desk as a runway
If he told her the truth
And the rules of the order
As he dressed in the phone booth
And he asked her for quarters

(Full lyrics here.)
The Spiderman theme was also covered by Moxy Früvous.

“Bungalow Bill” by the Beatles ("…and Captain Marvel zapped him right between the eyes…"
“Catch Me Now I’m Falling” by the Kinks
“Waiting for Superman” by Flaming Lips

Dr. Strange was featured on two Al Stewart album covers in the 70s, “Modern Times” and “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.” I really strained my eyes trying to find him on “Year of the Cat.”

The Who did a cover of the Batman TV show theme.

Roger McGough of Scaffold had “Goodbat Nightman,” about Batman and Robin. It is one of the few rock singles whose lyrics ended up in “The Oxford Book of Modern English Verse.”

Pinball Wizard by Elton John and/or the Who.

What?

Is Kirk a superhero?

“Everyone’s a superhero,
Everyone’s a Captain Kirk”

Nena, 99 Red Balloons
