What post did you spend the most effort on only to delete it?

Ever go to a LOT of work on a post, only to finally give up and scrap it? Not just composing it, but researching cites, finding links, etc.? I actually got an ImageShack account just to be able to link to photos I then realized were available on the net. :smack:

I presume you’re talking about deleting deliberately, in which case I’ve done what you describe once or twice. It’s a much better feeling than writing a long post that gets lost when you have to log back in!

I remember awhile back spending the better part of an hour composing a rhetorical wonder of debate, full of flawless logic and armed with stunning cites beautifully contrasted with an arsenal of quotes from my misguided nemesis. Then I remembered that xkcd comic and turned off my computer.
