What "region" is Tennessee a part of?

I chose Appalachia because I’m from East Tennessee but of course that doesn’t represent the rest of the state.

Roll Tide!

Okay…but, to be fair, over half the state is at least within the Ohio River watershed, which the word “valley” sometimes implies for some people.

I know it’s a stretch, but it’s not THAT bad. Remember that, for many reasons, Tennessee and Kentucky are often thought of as being in the same region – and that much of suburban Cincinnati is in Kentucky.

Secession failed by one vote in the legislature.
As I am fond of remarking, the 1st Arkansas Cavalry, USA, fought the 1st Arkansas Cavalry, CSA in Fayettevile AR in 1862 or 1863.
Several Union regiments were raised in Northern Arkansas.
The Smoky Mountains in TN are one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.

I voted before reading the OP, and thus only the final one of my five choices (Tennessee Valley) was recorded. Had I realized the nature of the poll, I’d have selected South, as I generally divide the country into East, South, Midwest, Southwest, and (Far) West.

I also checked Southeast(since Vanderbilt and the University of Tennessee are in the Southeastern Conference), Mid-South (a term I first heard in connection with the Mid-South Coliseum), and Ohio Valley (since Austin Peay, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, and UT-Martin are members of the Ohio Valley Conference).
