Are you referring to H.G. Wells’ book, or Ralph Ellison’s?
Harry F. Saint. One of the best first novels ever written. But stay away from the horrid Chevy Chase movie.
Considering how awful the original was (hell, my first novel was better than Saint’s, and mine wouldn’t even make the top ten thousand first novels), I can’t imagine how Chase could have made it worse.
Well dang! I hope they put together a team with some talent.
Thanks for the info!
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Yeah, it’s about time. Since the 1980s BBC dramatization, there has never, I repeat never, been a Hitchhiker’s Guide movie. I just hope it gets picked up by somebody who wouldn’t completely ruin the concept.
I’d love to see a definitive version of Lord of the Flies. The '63 version stayed close to the novel, but looked like crap (filming in black & white didn’t help) and had really bad acting. The '90 remake had wonderful cinematography, but they screwed with the story too much. Plus, really bad acting.
Only problem is the story’s a bit outdated, and convincing any Hollywood studio to do a thoroughly British film is pure wishful thinking.
I’ll see your Bye Bye Birdie and raise you with a version of Guys and Dolls with proper casting.
