I saw One Hour Photo in the theatre and it’s my favourite Robin William movie. It was so neat to have the guy who is usually making me laugh this time scaring the hell out of me. He really got to showcase his range of talent in that one.
I’ve read plenty of Asimov before that movie and thought Hollywood ruined one of his stories with that mawkish adaption. But then I read that particular story and found Asimov wrote all the parts I hated. I love Asimov, but he did write “The Robots of Dawn” too.
Only Dead Poets Society. I’m not much of a cinema-goer, but I enjoyed his work on DVD. His serious performances were better than his comedic ones. I especially liked Insomnia and DPS.

Awakenings
Interesting range as an actor, but I was always more familiar with him for Mork, and for his stand-up. I tended not to go see a move he was in just because he was in it. That said, there are a few films of his I missed in the theaters that I want to catch at some point, notably One Hour Photo and Insomnia.
The World According to Garp (the movie that made Robin Williams my favorite actor, and Glenn Close my favorite actress)
Moscow on the Hudson
Good Morning, Vietnam
Dead Poets Society
Awakenings (I remember sobbing uncontrollably all the way home – I have never cried more at a movie before or since)
Dead Again
Hook
Aladdin (saw three times in the theater)
Mrs. Doubtfire
Jumanji
The Birdcage
Jack
Hamlet
Good Will Hunting (at this point, Robin stopped being my favorite actor, but I still admire his great body of work, and he remains an indelible part of my movie experience)
The Night Listener
Night at the Museum
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
Moscow on the Hudson
Hook
Aladdin
Mrs. Doubtfire
The Birdcage
I’ve seen a few of the others, but not in the theater. I’ve liked Robin Williams since the first time I saw him in Mork and Mindy. I wouldn’t say he was a particular favorite, but I loved his work and he always made me laugh (except when he was being creepy, in which case I really admired his ability to switch from funny to creepy). I still want to see One Hour Photo.
The Birdcage is one of my all-time favorite movies. The spouse and I often quote lines from it to each other. I watched it again last night in honor of Mr. Williams.

I liked all but the last five.
Remind me what his role was in Dead Again?
He made a surprisingly good Theodore Roosevelt in the NATM movies, but an unconvincing Dwight D. Eisenhower in The Butler.
Good Morning, Viet Nam is the only one I saw on the big screen, come to think of it. And not worth it, either - Williams was a very good actor in a lot of mediocre-at-best movies.
Aladdin was great. but that was the only movie where he chewed the scenery and it still worked. Moscow on the Hudson was good, but he wasn’t trying to be the life of the fucking party in every second.
His comedic talent was almost beyond compare, but it got in the way of his acting. Poor bastard - I read that worry about his career may have played a factor, what with the rather disastrous arc of The Crazy Ones, whose publicity trailers dripped with flop sweat.

He was a damn good shrink; nineteen years, he got a lot of people through a lot of shit. Okay, he slept with a patient or two, but it’s not like he didn’t care about 'em; he loved being a doctor. He used to not charge half his patients! Then the fucking state comes along, they send in some bitch undercover, and he’s fucked.
