What series have final seasons that returned to their roots after having drifted from what originally made them good?

I’ve been watching the 10th season of Law & Order Criminal Intent and I’m enjoying it. They got back to the original formula of Goren browbeating the killer into confessing after he figures it out using his ability to read people. There’s the captain who sits back and lets Goren do his thing instead of interfering. There’s a lack of multi-episode story arcs, which I don’t like in procedurals. In short, they went back to what made the early years great.

What other TV shows, after having drifted away from what originally made the good, ended the series with a swan song final season that got back to what originally made them good?

CSI Mothership. Maybe. After the horrible years of Langston and his angst and Keppler the murderer and Catherine covering up murder and the whole mishegoss of the Gil/Sara thing, it was nice to get back to actual crimes without (too many?) multiarc stories and supervillains. Ted Danson made.a batter lead.

It wasn’t perfect, but it was better.
