What should I buy? Neverwinter Nights or Morrowind?

I know at least some of you coughSPOOFEcough have both, so give me your opinions.

FWIW, I upgraded/rebuilt my computer to a 1.2 GHz Duron w/640 megs of RAM and have a 64 MB DDR Radeon 7200 (apparently; it didn’t have a number when I bought it), running Win2K.

I have both. Morrowind was an amazing game for about two weeks, after that i couldn’t handle playing for more than 20 minutes at a time. Neverwinter nights is the better game IMHO, mostly for all the multiplayer options, the unreal toolset (think i’ve played with this more than the actual game, making your own adventure has that “sims” appeal to it i guess) and the infite replay value with the player created modules that are posible from the toolset. There are alot of very creative people out there, some even more so than the actual game designers, so i have high hopes for this game to keep me interested for a while.

I’d suggest Morrowind, unless you have a bunch of friends ready to play NWN.

Morrowind’s got a crapload of stuff to do, a crapload of places to go, and a crapload of things to find, which is what I love in a game.

Neverwinter Nights… well… it feels far slower to me, but everyone I know says that it’s better when you’ve got more people to play with. So that’s all I need right now.

I’d agree with SPOOFE. It depends on what you’re looking for. Morrowind has a much, much better single-player game than Neverwinter Nights. If you’re looking for something to play on your own, Morrowind is my recommendation. If you’ve got a bunch of friends you’d like to play with, or you have success meeting strangers online, NWN is the one to go with.

And if you’re looking to make your own content/levels/whatever, both include editors and have downloadable content, but NWN is the more extensible of the two games. IMO, though, NWN is all tools with no game behind it – so far I haven’t seen any real creativity or imagination in the content provided, it’s all standard D&D stuff (which was the point).

Yeah, NWN is standard D&D on a computer.

Wait…it’s standard D&D on a computer.

Seriously. You can DM a module, instead of going through it. Create new towns, dungeons, plots… or play through adventures that others have created, and are running.

The single-player game, though, is kinda buggy. I was up at 2am yesterday, getting those damned cows to wax that intellect devourer, just because he was reluctant to give up his brain. Very frustrating.

Other than that, it’s the game I’ve been waiting for. Fun stuff.

Might I suggest Warcraft 3? I know its not one of your choices but this game is fricking awsome. Great story and great gameplay make it a great value.

I am going to try Morrowind though. Not interested in NWN just because I am not into DnD and that stuff.

I have to go with Stinkpalm here. I’ve played Morrowind and NWN. Working on Warcraft 3 now. Believe me, when you’re watching the opening movie for the game you KNOW you have gotten your money’s worth.

Blizzard makes absolutely fantasic games, and they don’t wimp out on putting out the money to take the game movies.

Good stuff.
