Do to the raging success and glut of useful information garnered in my What should I do in Alaska? thread, I’ve decided to seek Doper help again. I plan to be in Stockholm for about a week during the tail end of November. I’m going primarily because I can. A friend is there for work for a few months, so I have a place to stay and all that good stuff. On the agenda so far are the Vasa Museum (which is of particular interest to me) and consumption of better-than-American Guinness. That leaves me with a fair amount of time to fill. Ideas?
Find a nice girl named Inga, please to help her with her rucksack, eat some meatballs, and find out what the throes of passion sound like with a Svedish accent?
The Moderna Museet is nice. Carl Milles is one of my favorite sculptors, and his sculpture garden in Stockholm is worth a visit, though I don’t know if it’ll be closed for winter when you’re there or not.
I’ll ask my better-half (aka Stockholm-born Anniz) to post some things, but the Vasa is definitely a place to go to. The National Museet is pretty sweet, too, as is an afternoon spent in Gamla Stan, the old town.
I agree with every suggestion here.
One more thing is to see the castle too,
if you find that interstening of course.
And if you have time,
take a cruse to helsinki,
that is a lot of fun.
Also go to Skansen,
it’s a place with animals and old houses
and farmsteads.

I’m told that even if you’re not a metro freak like me, their metro stations are FABULOUS. In fact, when I finally end up in Europe I intend to make a stockholmward jaunt just for the metro.
Does it have to be an Inga? Would an Ursala or a Lena do as well? I’d hate to narrow the field unnecessarily. Also, what’s a “rucksack”? Maybe that wasn’t supposed to be an “r”, and you left out the space in the middle…?
