What Should I Look Out For Helping a Watchdog Group?

I got fired from a job back in January. Over the months I have been struggling with unemployment and the stigma of being fired. I go back and forth feeling like a huge idiot or being angry at my former employer. My former employer has an incredible reputation in the community and I tried to get a job with them for years. I did get a job and it was horrible.

Lo and behold, I found out about a watchdog group that is interested in keeping my former employer in check. As I looked through the reports from this group, I finally felt like I am not crazy or a horrible worker anymore. Plus, I wish I had seen the reports before I pursued a job. I emailed them and mentioned a couple things I had noticed that were of concern while I worked there. Things like tricky accounting moves etc. They would like to hear more.

The watchdog group is affiliated with a national union and I will be talking to a researcher. Has anyone out there done something similar? Is there something particular I should look out for? My references from the former employer are non-existent since I was fired so I won’t be burning any bridges there.
