Ook!
I’m not sure what to make of this comment!
Really? Oh well, you may be right.
Merely a reference to the piscine punishment previously perpetrated.
What else?
I know, it just *sounds * really odd.
Hey, maybe there should be a Discworld book about cold fish!
No, wait . . . we’ve already go Susan Sto Helit . . .
How true!
Well Science of Discworld 3 will be out in May, about the same time as the third Tiffany outing. Thud will be out in Oct or Nov, and then there’s something called Wintersmith due.
I’ll get my fix of faculty banter in SoDW 3, which makes me happy. I like Rincewind, but agree that there doesn’t seem to be a lot of milage left in his stories. However, letting him do a cameo a la Vimes would be fun. But Ridcully and the staff bickering is among the best comedy I’ve ever read.
A trend over the last few books is that magic seems to be playing a less prominent roll. It’s there in the background, but not really center stage.
I do miss Foul ol’ Ron and where is the amazing wonder dog Gaspode, dammit?
While I’m sure it’d be fun to read Pterry making fun of sports, I don’t think cricket should be it, since a large part of his considerable international audience would understand the jokes. Maybe soccer / football, now that America seems to be warming up to it and understanding the game.
I wouldn’t mind seeing him do something outside DW. It’s been a while.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Terry lurks here. He’s a Straight Dope fan, after all.
would not understand…
sheesh.
Anybody found “Once More with Footnotes” which is some sort of collection?
Was it in this thread or another that someone said that there have been no private detectives on discworld, yet. Maybe Vimes could end up competing with (or just having to put up with) one.
‘Wintersmith’ is the third Tiffany outing.
And for the record, the fourth, and probably last, Tiffany book is already titled as ‘I Shall Wear Midnight’.
But hard!
They’re hard of herring!
What?
Eh?
groan
Bosda, that was a worse pun than **CandidGamera ** would have come up.
And that’s saying a lot.
It was published by the New England Science Fiction Association press, as part of last year’s WORLDCON. It is available through the NESFA website. A lot of other good things there, too.
Personally, I am willing to wait and see what the Marster comes up with. It’s always better than any ideas I have.
