OK, this is really just a rather bad excuse to try out the new polling feature, but a friend of mine “invented” (possibly independently) a dessert consisting of a pan-fried crepe filled with peanut butter and banana and coated caramel sauce.
Elvis Presley was famous for grilling (or frying) peanut butter and banana sandwiches (some say bacon was a common enhancement), so my answers were all variations on this theme… Got anything else?
last night for dessert (and again this morning for b-fast, because I have limited self control) I made a variation on this using Manzano Bananas and Nutella. I called it a creepy nut-man.
I kinda like “Coup de Graceland”, personally… it’s got just the right amount of tongue-in-cheekiness.
I’d have said “Crepes a la King”, but that might conjure up images of chicken in cream sauce instead. Somehow “Crepes du Roi” is just too classy for something as low-brow as PB&B.
In French, when refering to a male noun, the correct word is “du”. Female nouns get “de la”, but you would never ever use “du le” or “de le”… that would probably give most French speakers indigestion before they even take a bite of dessert.
But then again, this being a Tribute to Elvis, a little indigestion would probably be all too appropriate.
(The King’s Crepes, BTW, would translate to “Les Crepes du Roi”)
