What Simpsons characters will not get their own episodes or pasts delved into?

I am amazed at the amount of detail has gone into some of the characters in the Simpsons. Well, it is either detail or the writers have really become desperate for new story lines. Krusty, Barney, Moe, Smithers, Millhouse’s parents, and even the Comic book guy (Does he even have a name?) have all had episodes (some multiple ones!) dedicated to them and have had their pasts and personalities fleshed out. But what characters will never get this treatment, doomed to remain one joke tertiary characters?

Disco Stu
Curly
The Regular Judge
Sherri and Terri

Lenny

Karl

Lou the Policeman

Kent Brockmann

Duff Man

Teenager

Professor Frink (“he makes you laugh, he makes you think”)

Superintendent Chalmers

Sideshow Mel

Apu also had a great deal of history. I love Apu.

And, the Comic Book Guy’s name is Comic Book Guy.

Eugene and Rusty.

I saw an episode recently where Disco Stu was in the back of a taxi, and he was saying how he doesn’t even like Disco. That seems to be the most characterisation I’ve ever seen for him.

Lionel Hutz and myself, unfortunately.

Dr. Nick.
(aside from that he went to med school to pick up the chicks, and has poor English skills)

The Simpsons have alot of background characters so I would guess that a list of characters that would get their pasts delved into would be much much shorter. In fact, I suspect that there are few characters that will step into Springfield’s limelight in the future that haven’t already at some time in the past.

Handsome Pete

That baby with one eyebrow.
The kid who throws up all the time (does he have a name?)
Bumblebee Man
Lisa’s teacher (don’t know her name either)

How about Gil? Aside from being based on Jack Lemmon’s character from “Glengarry Glen Ross,” what do we know about this guy?

Ahhh, good ol’ HUMS. Ol’ Hollywood Upstairs Medical School.

I think we’ve seen all we’ll ever see of Data and Cosine.

It’s Wendell who gets sick a lot.

Oh, and I’d like to see more of Miss Hoover, but don’t expect it. I’ve got a crush on her.

P.S. Miss Hoover’s joke (at least the main one) is that she’s desperately single.

Hmm, maybe I should have made the thread title “Who is most likely to get their own episode or past delved into next?” instead.

Hans Smallman

Isn’t it Hans Moleman ?

Kerney is my answer. Some of the characters mentioned above did get some backstory in the 32 short films about Springfield episode.

And Troy McClure married Selma (or was it Patty), that’s where we got alot of his backstory (“romantic abnormality” and the meet me at the Springfield Aquarium bumper sticker).

That would be Baby Gerald, Maggie’s arch-rival.
