What size is your house? (Sq M or Sq Ft)

After reading a little of this thread, and hearing the sizes of some peoples houses and having them listed as ‘modest’ etc… I was curious as to the average size of Dopers houses throughout the world. Theay are obviously going to vary greatly, with the US and possiblly Australia leading the way.

Can you list the Sq footage of your property, and the location by country for my nosy poll. Thanks.

My house is tiny compared to most, I’m sure, (but it’s mine)…

Northern Ireland: 2 bedroom cottage bungalow, 700 Sq Ft.

What about yours?

North of Dallas, TX, USA: About 2000 square feet (a pretty typical house around here - 3 bed 2 bath).

4 bedroom, 2 stories, plus finished basement
USA
Southern New Jersey (20 miles from Philadelphia, PA)

North of Seattle

2 Bdr, 2 BA

1200 square feet

Southern Vermont USA. 3500 sq.ft single story 19th century farm home on 125 acres.

Eastern Mass home 1700 sq.ft condo no yard.

Alberta, Canada.

1300 sq/ft upstairs 3 bedroom, 2 bath. About another 600 or so for the finished part of the basement (family room, rec room).

Fairly typical for middle class homes in Alberta.

Just under 1000 sq. ft (outside Chicago) on almost two acres with a detached 2-car garage. And a cellar.

North of Little Rock, Arkansas. just over 1200 sq. ft, on a 1/4 acre lot (big backyard w/ privacy fence). 2 car garage. single story, 3 bed, 2 bath.

it’s cozy…our own little hobbit-hole. pretty average for around here, though, excluding trailers and estates.

New Kent County, VA (20 minutes east of Richmond).

2200 square feet
3 bedrooms
2.5 baths
5.5 acres
inground swimming pool

South Texas 3300 sf + 3 car garage, gazebo and detached storage unit on a 1 1/2 acre lot. 4bdr 3 bath

I live in an old mill building converted to condos in Lowell, MA. 700 sq feet. It’s all one big open room. (except the bathroom!)

Houston, TX – 2000 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car attached garage on a standard lot (1/4 acre?), with privacy fence for the backyard.

I think the real estate agents had my house listed as 1900 sq ft., but I’m not sure what they were smoking. I’m guessing the actual value is closer to 1500 - 1600 sq ft., but by some miracle of architecture that I can’t quite figure out, it feels smaller than that.

But I’ve got 4 acres and a huge detached garage/storage area so it could be worse.

Monroe, NC (20 miles closer to Myrtle Beach than Charlotte)

3500 sq ft on 4 acres, with a detached 24 x 36 ft workshop/garage (w/heat & air)
4 bedrooms
3 1/2 bath

I’m in a Dallas suburb, in a 700 sq. ft. apartment. One bedroom, one bath, but (Hurray!) it has a separate dining room.

Connecticut. 4500 sq.ft 150 + Acres. 4 bedrooms. 3 baths
Large Barn as well.

1300 sq. ft. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths. Attached Garage. On Slab (Horribly broken) foundation. <<sigh>>

Okay, US average house size so far, inc. apartments, is sitting at 2147 Sq Ft.
I’m throwing the sizes into Excel as we go along, so you know…

Ok we guestimeasured and came out around 1600 square feet.

3 bedrooms, 1 bath, one car garage (not included in measurement)

Massachusetts, USA

2400 sq ft
