What song describes you best?

Overall, I’d have to say “I Go to Extremes” by Billy Joel. Or “Speedway” from Counting Crows (I’m a huge Crows fan).
As far as individual lines or snippets from songs, I have a few:

“We all want something beautiful…man, I wish I was beautiful” Counting Crows, “Mr. Jones”

“Believe in me…man, I don’t believe in anything…and I don’t wanna be someone to believe…you should not believe in me” Counting Crows, “Mr. Jones” (VH1 Storytellers version)

“And every time I’ve held the rose/It seems I’ve only felt the thorns” Billy Joel, “And So It Goes”

“Some people say I’m obnoxious and lazy/I’m uneducated, my opinion means nothing” John Mellencamp, “Crumblin’ Down”

“Things are getting worse, but I feel a lot better” Counting Crows, “Amy Hit the Atmosphere”

Sixteen Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford

“… another day older and deeper in debt…”

Oh, how that song speaks to me…

My personal anthem is The The - This is the Day.

Lyrics Below:

I’ve probably done this, or gone through this day once every 6 months for the past 15 years.

Real World by Matchbox 20. When this song became popular, my father had just died, I was trying to sell our house by myself because hubby was in another state, we were moving very far away from my newly widowed mother, I had a tiny baby who had medical problems and problems nursing. It seemed like everytime we got a little relaxed the realtor would call to say someone wanted to see the house. Then we ended up with like the buyers from hell who saw the house I can’t even remember how many times and offered us outrageous contracts which were so bad all we could say was “no” pretty much. Then we ended up with not the movers from hell, but I didn’t like them and they broke some stuff. Anyway, since then my motto is, “I wish the real world would just stop hassling me.”

Oh - I can’t believe I forgot this one:

Boss Of Me - They Might Be Giants. My own personal anthem.

Well it’s not my favourite (tho’ I do like it) but I guess ** That’s What Friends Are For ** sums me up pretty well. Or ** The Dance. **
And occasionally ** Hammer To Fall. **

Almost forgot…when I’m feeling frisky The song Flower by Liz Phair does run through my head…

Every time I see your face
I think of things unpure,unchaste
I want to fuck you like a dog
I’ll take you home and make you like it
Everything you’ve ever wanted
Everything you’ve ever thought of
Is everything I’ll do to you
I’ll fuck you and your minions too

Your face reminds me of a flower
Kind of like you’re underwater
Your hair’s too long and in your eyes
Your lips are perfect suck me size
You act like you’re 14 years old
Everything you say is so obnoxious, funny, true and mean
I want to be your blowjob queen

ETC…

Creed…With Arms Wide Open (normally)
Lenny Kravitz…When Will I see you Again (at the moment):frowning:

Carry On by Styx. That song was written for me. Since I collect Andrew Lloyd Webber cast CDS, I was overjoyed when Dennis DeYoung played Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar!

I also don’t understand how the Eagles’ Desperato was written without them knowing me.

Three way tie

Symphony no. 25 - Mozart
Stay Hungry - Twisted Sister
Round Out The Tank - Mystical

The theme from Shaft

“Evaporated” by Ben Folds Five
“Nightswimming” by REM

But the song that some of my close friends have said is all about me is “Killer Queen” by Queen.

When Tina Turner sings (direct to me personally)
** You’re the best **

I CALL YOU WHEN I NEED YOU
AND MY HEART’S ON FIRE
YOU COME TO ME, COME TO ME
WILD AND WIRE
YOU COME TO ME, GIVE ME EVERYTHING I NEED

YOU BRING A LIFETIME OF PROMISES
AND A WORLD OF DREAMS
YOU SPEAK THE LANGUAGE OF LOVE
LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT IT MEANS
AND IT CAN’T BE WRONG
TAKE MY HEART AND MAKE IT STRONG

CAUSE YOU’RE SIMPLY THE BEST
BETTER THAN ALL THE REST
BETTER THAN ANYONE
ANYONE I EVER MEET
I’M STUCK ON YOUR HEART
I HANG ON EVERY WORD YOU SAY
TEAR US APART
BABY I WOULD RATHER BE DEAD

DEEP IN YOUR HEART
I SEE THE STAR
OF EVERY NIGHT AND EVERY DAY
AND IN YOUR EYES I GET LOST
I GET WASHED AWAY
JUST AS LONG AS I’M HERE IN YOUR ARMS
I COULD BE IN NO BETTER PLACE
CAUSE YOU’RE SIMPLY THE BEST

Now I ask you what male does’nt think down deep in his soul "Yeah, that’s me, right on!

Of course it doesn’t hurt that my sweet wifey looks quite a bit like Tina, was even nicknamed Tina Turner by her students when she wore her hair the same way.
Then there’s
**American Woman **- The Who version

Its been what 30 years or so, still can’t get those lyrics out of my head:

American woman, stay away from me
American women, mama let me be
Don’t come hangin’ around my door
I don’t wanna see your face no more
I don’t need your war machine
I don’t need your ghetto scenes
Coloured lights can hypnotize
Sparkle someone else’s eyes
Now woman, I said stay away
American woman, listen what i say.

did I mention I’m Canadian ?

The song “Why do good girls like bad boys” by DMX. Our (my exboyfriend and myself) song was “You’re still the one” by Shania Twain so I still cry when I hear it. Also…I think it’s called “Growing up” by Blink 182, that reminds me of him so it’s special to me.

“Watching the Wheels” by John Lennon

I’m a mix of Deadeye Dick’s New Age Girl and Veruca Salt’s Seether.

Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd or A Country Boy Can Survive, by Hank Williams Jr.

The song that describes me best has to be “Land of 1000 Dances” by Wilson Pickett. Allow me to quote:
