I cant place it. Its a late 60’s early 70s song that evokes feelings of summer…im gonna post the phrasing which may throw people so concentrate on the ‘aieee aiee yii yiiis’ cause thats the only part in certain of. Its a slow beat.
" Now that something something sommmmmthinnnng Aieee aieee yiii yiiiiiiiiiii ohh something something. …Ohh Something something."
Actual notes of opening are
D Eflat F F Bflat F D C (held a little) D C Bflat (lower)
I’m sure it’s not it, but just because you said it evokes feelings of summer…
No idea how those notes would sound, but is it Saturday in the Park by Chicago?
Nope…nor is it Mungo Jerry’s In the Summertime…Its got an Association like lush feel at the very beginning but horns in the middle then goes back to that lush feel. No its not Cherish and almost certainly isnt The Association.
Which is why im having trouble pinning down the date. The beginning is very 60’s but the middle is early 70’s
I think we might need a few more details. Male/female? Any certain instruments stand out (ie horns, if it’s Chicago)? Genre/style? Any other details at all?
Male. Sounds like The Association mixed with Chicago but almost certainly isnt either of those.
Its none of these. Its driving me crazy. Soundhound and shazam arnt helping either
Found it,you humm and humm and humm and finally a lyric will hit you and you have it. Thanks all for helping.
Edit: It didnt help that the chorus was buried so deep in the song
Really makes you wonder where the band would have gone had Sly not fallen so far down the heroin bag.
I was going to suggest Three Dog Night’s Shambala.
Sly & the Family Stone = Underrated.
mmm
Gotta say, you gave a great description. If I’d found this tool sooner I could have ID’ed it just from the notes you wrote out.
