What song was #1 on the day you were born

“Hold Me Close” by David Essex (UK)

“Bad Blood” by Neil Sedaka (US)

“I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do” by Abba (Oz)

Quite the mix I have there.

“The Singing Nun” by Dominique  Never heard of either one.
And they blew it – married 20 years, three kids

Stevie Wonder - I Just Called To Say I Love You was apparently taking over the world on my birthday, except for Australia, who was really into George Michael at the time.

I don’t remember what song was #1 the day I was born. I was screaming too loud to hear over the Muzak in the nursery, anyway.

Cher had a #1 in 1965 (“I Got You Babe,” with Sonny) and in 1998 (“Believe”), which is 33 years. Wikipedia says it’s the longest span of #1 hits, for what it’s worth.

Memories Are Made Of This - Dean Martin

1956

I don’t think I’ve ever heard it.

Oh, that was in the US.

'Cause that’s where I was.

Many times a-tryin’: USA :“Not Available”, hmm, guess that was The Day the Music Died, in LA, CA…
UK: “Little Sister” by Elvis
AUS: “Goodbye Cruel World” James Darren

So,on with the conception date, right hopeful of an passionate spark that set my zygoty goodness a-happening:

US: “Calcutta”, Lawrence Welk Uh, please bleach my brain from that mattress heaving image.
Though, I did find this terrific early Welk video

Sampiro, here’s the finest YouTube version of yer birthsong. Haunting, ain’t it?

Hmmm…

Welcome Back - John Sebastian (US)
Fernando - ABBA (UK and AUS)

Clearly this means that I am the reincarnated soul of someone named Fernando. Karma’s a bitch.

US- Queen- Crazy Little Thing Called Love
UK- Kenny Rogers- Coward of the County
AUS- KC & The Sunshine Band- Please Don’t Go

In the UK: No Other Love by Ronnie Hilton. I’ve not had the privilege of hearing this one.

In Australia: Mack the Knife by Louis Armstrong. A good cover, but I really dig Ella Fitzgerald’s version from Berlin.

In the USA: Hot Diggity by Perry Como. In an astounding coincidence, I have this song on my personalized disk of karaoke tracks, because my daughter loves it so much.

Now you have no excuses. It’s a really clean copy, too. Enjoy!

It’s the other way around, actually. Dominique, by the Singing Nun. This appears to be excerpted from a documentary. FF to 1:41, if you wish.

Thanks for the fun link Spiritinthesky!

Did they really spell it that way? Because the original Sly song is titled “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)” (cite). I owned the single and it was backed with “Everybody Is A Star.”

For me:

US: “Don’t Be Cruel/Hound Dog” - Elvis Presley
UK: “Que Sera Sera (Whatever Will Be Will Be)” by Doris Day
Oz: “Moonglow – Theme From Picnic” – Morris Stoloff

I feel old too. Most of the ones people are saying they never heard of, I can start humming in my head when I see the title.

You win. That’s very cool.

Now you have.

Music, Music, Music by Teresa Brewer in US and UK

Too far back for AUS

Lame.

Actually, they spelled it the way you did. I just thought the website was being silly; turns out it was Sly being silly.

Songs were unknown when I was born.
