What song was number one (US and UK) when you were born?

11/25/60

US: Stay, by Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs
UK: It’s Now or Never, by some guy named Elvis

Oct 18, 1966

UK - Distant Drums by Jim Reeves
US - Reach Out I’ll Be There by The Four Tops

I know both artists, but neither song.

I did this a few months ago…

US = “Mama Told Me (Not to Come)” by Three Dog Night
UK = “In the Summertime” by Mungo Jerry

Both of which are awesome, and both of which I lorded over my friend in jail, who was stuck with “Dancing Queen” by ABBA for US and UK. And he hates, loathes, despises Disco. Hehehehehehe…

8 Mar 1965:

UK: I’ll Never Find Another You by The Seekers (huh?)

US: My Girl by The Temptations

My girl, my girl, my girl…
Talkin’ 'bout my giiiiiiirl…my girl!

That’s me!

5 January 1983:

US: Maneater, Hall & Oates
UK: Save Your Love, Renee and Renato

Songs for my birthday are pretty boring fare, but on the day I graduated from high school, The Streak by Ray Stevens was #1 in the U.S.

** “Don’t look, Ethel!!! it was too late…”

July 6th, 1976

US: Silly Love Songs by Wings
UK: You To Me Are Everything by The Real Thing

Wow. Two love songs. No wonder I fall in love so easily.

US - Purple People Eater by Sheb Wooley
UK - On The Street Where You Live by Vic Damone

I’ll have to play them back-to-back - “Purple People Eater On The Street Where You Live”

US – Love is Blue by Paul Mauriat
UK – Cinderella Rockefella by Esther and Abi Ofarim

I’m not sure what this says about me. Maybe I’m actually the evil stepbrother of Poppa or Handy Smurf and the three of us formed a band that totally rocked!

My daughter’s US song is soooo coooooolll:

Independent Woman Part I by Destiny’s Child.

Hate the song, but I hope it describes my daughter when she grows up!
