What song would you want played at your funeral?

“We’ll Meet Again”

For the wake: “In Heaven There Is No Beer” (“In heaven there is no beer/That’s why we drink it here”)

“One Step Beyond” by Madness

And all my friends have to get up and dance to it.

A good jazz version of “When the Saints Go Marching In” and Great Big Sea’s version of “The Night Pat Murphy Died.”

MAN IN THE BOX by Alice In Chains

also THEM BONES by Alice In Chains

BROKEDOWN PALACE by the Dead

LIVE FOREVER by Oasis

oh yeah one more ALL APOLOGIES by Nirvana but only if I die young

I can’t believe nobody has said Jeff Buckley’s version of ‘Satisfied Mind.’ Come on people.

Danny Boy
Let it Be
Mozart’s Requiem

They’re from both songs, to be precise. First appeared in WTCAG, then later in Believe, and even later in Chris’ Song, on the Handful of Rain album. I took that verse because of its impact, but the entire Believe lyrics are beautiful. In addition, it’s a very powerful ballad, finishing an even more awesome album.

But I digress.

“Gone” by Jerry Cantrell. Definitely.

The S&M version of “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica, because it’s my favorite recording of it.

“Fade to Black” by Apocalyptica. Metallica on cellos.

“Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

As people pay their last respects, “Little Wing” by Stevie Ray Vaughan.

“Funeral for a Friend” by Elton John

however, I am going to live forever and never die.

Ordinary World and Save A Prayer Duran Duran
Halloween --Ministry
Don’ t Drink the Water-- Dave Matthews Band
Unforgiven I and II , Nothing Else Matter-- Metallica

The Lap Dance is Always Better when the Stripper is Crying by the Bloodhound Gang.

Monster Bash or the Addam’s Family Theme

Even the funeral March (I love that song)

71 replies and no one has mentioned I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead by Warren Zevon???

Siegfreid’s Funeral March from Gotterdammerung.
But then, hey I’ll be dead, so who cares?

First, So What by Miles Davis.
Then, Dimuenndo and Crescendo in Blue by The Duke Ellington Orchestra, from the live at Newport album featuring Paul Gonslaves.

I’m shocked, and appalled, that no one has taken my choice yet:
Norman Greenbaum’s Spirit in the Sky.

Damn Coldie, first your a Rush fan now I find out your a Savatage fan too? Plus you ride a motorcycle, hell if you wern’t a mod I might actually have some respect for you!

As for my own picks it’d have to be

Killed by Death by Motorhead
Hallowed by Thy Name and Powerslave by Iron Maiden
and possibly Going to the Run by Golden Earring
