Hiking boots / combat boots do just fine.
bughunter:
My wife has been after me for ages to get some shoes that don’t look dorky with shorts.
I clicked on your links and was very impressed with the Travelsmith huarches, so I ordered some.
They arrived today and passed the ultimate test - my wife likes them!
Thanks!
Teenaged girl here! If anyone knows about fashion it has to be me, right?
Anyway, if you want to be hip, you have two choices:
-
Sneakers and ankle socks (TO the ankle, not several inches above the ankle). I know you hate sneakers, but . . . Well, sneakers are cool, and you wanna be cool, right? Any sort of crosstrainers should look all right, but try to stick with white ones.
-
Sandals, of course. This has already been stated but
NO SOCKS WITH SANDALS. EVER.
I would avoid closed-toe but if you CANNOT show the world your toes then, fine, grab something closed-toe. Those clog-type things that make your feet look like duck bills would look dumb though, so avoid those. You want to show as much of your foot as possible.
I recommend you try black satin mules with a maribou fringe.
I really need to be amused. Now go down to the biker bar and play ‘It’s Raining Men’ on the jukebox 56 times in a row, order a fuzzy navel, and ask if they’ll change the channel from ESPN to Lifetime.
Email Dame Edna Everage, I’m sure she has all the suggestions.
Labdad, I’m always a bit uncomfortable ordering shoes online, because the fit is so specific. How did you find the fit as compared to the labelled size?
Actually, I phoned Travelsmith and got someone to tell me that if I wear 10 1/2, then I need size 44. They fit beautifully!
