What sounds do rabbits make?
Do they make sounds like rodents make?
Rabbits don’t make many sounds. Mostly they “thump”.
“squish”. So ya gotta watch where you step.
They scream like a baby when they’re in distress. Such as when your neighbour who raises rabbits can’t find her ball peen hammer and has to use vice grips instead, and she doesn’t hit the first one hard enough to knock it out before she slits its throat.

They also have a kind of “chk chk chk” purr-type sound when they’re content. My mom had a house rabbit for several years.
I had rabbits for many years, as a kid. They have a smallish number of vocalizations, including various squeals, grunts and huffs. They will also thump their feet when irritated, often accompanied by grunting or huffing.
No baby has ever produced such a blood-curdling sound.
Agreed. When scared they shriek with a sound you can’t possibly imagine coming from a rabbit.

I asked Dad the same question as a kid–he said that they make only one sound when in extreme distress–a horrible scream when he’s given up on himself, to warn his companions.
The one I hit with the 9 Iron sounded remarkable like a golfball. But, I did hit it in the head.

Mine went off on the foot thumping thing around 4:00 AM, prompting my roomate to run to the door because he thought the deadheads who lived in the yard next door were trying to get in.

Yup, I once caught a partially wild rabbit. I very slowly walked up to it in the woods and grabbed it. It screamed like a banshee and it worked, I let go something quick.
