Rabbit snoring

My friend and ex-housemate and I share custody of a 5 year old Netherland dawrf rabbit. My friend had mentioned that Payton (named after Walter Payton) had started to snore in his sleep. I didn’t believe it at first and asked if maybe Payton had a respiratory infection, but my friend had just taken Payton for his annual checkup and he got a clean bill of health.

Then this afternoon I heard it for the first time. It sounds almost like someone mumbling/talking in their sleep or like a bird singing. It isn’t the same sound that Payton makes when he grinds his teeth.

Any thoughts on this?

I will just add that Payton is a fairly vocal rabbit, growling and such to show that he is the fiercest and toughest 2.2 lbs of rabbit on the planet.
