The limit now is on the total number of athletes - I think it’s 10,500.
The plan was for one or more of boxing, weightlifting, and modern pentathlon to be removed in 2028. Recent reports say that weightlifting and modern pentathlon, with horse jumping replaced by Ninja-er, uh, Obstacle Coursing (although I wouldn’t be surprised if the NBC broadcasts calls it a Ninja course, complete with Matt & Akbar doing the commentary) will remain, but a decision may not have been made yet on boxing.
