What Stephen King story should Stephen Spielberg direct?

I think she’s a little too old now to play a cute moppet.

I opened the thread to say this.

That aside, I think a Running Man remake by Spielberg could be great if it hewed a little closer to the original story than the Schwarzenegger movie did. I like the Arnold movie, but I’d want something different in a remake, most notably having the hunt play out in the world at large. The theme is perhaps even more relevant today in our reality-TV-obsessed society than it was back then. Might have to change the ending a bit from the novel, but I’d be okay with that.

I think It is the King story most suited to Spielberg, other than the novella The Body.

For works not yet filmed (or not given a quality big-budget film), The Long Walk would be good in Spielberg’s hands, but I think Rage could be a great movie, as long as you get rid of a lot of the second-rate psychoanalyzing.

I wish he’d get on with it - it’s actually my favorite SK book.

The Mangler.

It should evolve slowly and draw us in, in the most creepy non-over-the-top way possible, until the final reel.
