A lot of King’s work hasn’t been put on the screen. Which one would you do?
I always thought Rose Madder would make a great movie starring Bruce & Demi, with Queen Latifa as Gert. I can just see that fight scene between Bruce and the Queen.

The Jaunt would be a good one. Another that I would like to see, but would NEVER happen is Survivor Type.
The Long Walk could make an interesting mini-series. And I still wish someone would re-do The Running Man as it was actually written, it would be especially poingant in this age of reality TV shows.
My friends and I used to ‘cast’ The Talisman. Dee Wallace Stone was always Lily Cavanaugh. Chris Walken as Morgan. We used to think Leo DeCaprio would be good as Jack, but he’s way too old now. Morgan Freeman would make a good Speedy Parker.
I know they’re making it into a mini-series, and no one asked me to cast it, so I don’t know how good it will be. I am looking forward to it though, trying to be optimistic, but I know deep down it will suck. Oh well.
Rose
I agree with Annie, Rose Madder would make a great movie.
running through the catalouge of SK books in my head
Know what I wish? I wish hollywood could mave movies from short stories without stretching the plot to x number of min. Then I’d like to see Suffer the Little Children.
Eyes of the Dragon. My SO thought of that one. That would be a fun movie!
um, thats all for now…
According to King’s website, Eyes of the Dragon is being developed as an animated feature, though no date has been set.
My first choice would definitely be The Mist, if someone could find a good balance between B-movie horror theatrics and atmosphere. Same with The Sun Dog.
Of his novel-length works that haven’t been filmed, Insomnia could be done interestingly. THe next project I know for certain is being done is Hearts in Atlantis (although I believe only the first segment), being adapted by William Goldman and directed by Scott Hicks (Shine, Snow Falling on Cedars).
Eyes of the Dragon is easily the most filmable King work, ever. It’s the right length, has the right dramatic pace and angle for a movie, would be suited to a visual presentation, and is a terrific story.
