What stories of the MAGA Era could be made into compelling movies?

I’d like to see the Coen Bros tackle Mike Pillow. Even though it’s a fraud story of epic proportions, I can’t imagine a Santos movie. A MTG vs Boebert comedy could be mildly amusing.

A remake of The Four Seasons.

Law and Order: Federal Jurisdiction

Starring Joaquin Phoenix as Special Counsel Jack Smith of the DoJ Public Integrity Section

So many stories, basically the maga era has killed political satire as a genre.

But the one that stands out to me, although only somewhat peripherally MAGA related, Vladimir Zelinsky.

He played the president in a sircom, went on to become president, was blackmailed by the POTUS, and then faced the largest land invasion in Europe since WW2.

Of course should probably see how the story ends before making the movie :frowning:

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone makes a 1/6 insurrection movie.

This was my thought. Seeing all behind the scenes plotting to steal the election, the planning, the desperation of the MAGA group as each and every pathetic legal (for values of legal) plans were shot down in the courts, the obvious self-serving nature of the plans to submit alternate electors and even failing that, the violence, plus a few, quiet and oft-ignored voices of reason saying “No”.

The lead up, the violence, the cowardly or self-serving refusal to use Trump’s authority to calm his own people or to call in the appropriate forces to quell the violence, and then, in the aftermath, and despite the culpable evil of all involved, the fact that the House DOES finally certify the election for Biden.

I do still see it ending with a text scroll at the end, wherein despite all this evidence, Trump remains at large despite legal challenges and with the messiah-like adulation of tens of millions. A nice touch to remind us that despite the literal good guys winning the day, evil was in NO WAY banished.

It would be a compelling movie. We’ll probably have to wait at least 40 years before it could be made, if it could be made at all.

Or 5 years, as part of the celebration of Donald Trump’s 3rd inauguration, with the movie portraying the heroic 1/6 freedom fighters as the vanguard of the movement that took American back from the dire peril of woke socialism.

Yeah, that’s why I said my version will be a long time coming, if it could be made at all.

I reject your (sadly plausible) divergent future and substitute my own branch of the many-worlds-tree.

I want to see Armando Iannuci’s take on Four Seasons Total Landscaping.

There’s the porn parody

MAGA: Make America Groan Again, starring Donna Hump.

Hope Hicks, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Stephanie Grisham, Cassidy Hutchinson, and soon Alina Habba. All women whose ideological convictions and personal ambitions intersected at the dynamic of Donald Trump. Was it a perversion of feminist empowerment, or a childhood legacy of the Regan “I got mine” era into which they had been born? What was their various experiences, and American society in the 2000’s, that this is what passed for public service and woman’s self-actualization?

Eh, for maximum outrage/box office/relevance value, I’d argue that such a movie should be shown in theaters in October 2024.

Of course, given that it’s already Nov-2023, and movies generally take at least one year at the bare minimum to go from scripting/casting/prep work to hitting the theaters, it’s near impossible for us to see it then even if a director wanted to get it going today.

I’d be even less surprised if that “someone” turns out to be Peter Berg.

The biggest problem will be our grandkids saying "We watched the stupidest movie in school. The teacher tried to tell us it was a true story, but pffft…"
