So they got the football cup, they got a motorcycle GP, they got ATP and WTA tennis tournaments, the Asian FC Cup, and today they get the fucking World Handball Championship!!!
WTF is this, do you only have to draw a cheque now to get to host major sport tournaments? No player base, no fucking fan base necessary anymore?
They’re less than 2 millions and, apparently, their latest hobby is to have a collection of all the sports tournaments.
Apart from the heat Qatar has very fine sand which gets blown around quite easily.
Doesn’t look like they got the tournament because of the healthy playing environment.
But who needs that when you’ve got plenty of money.
It’s not like this is anything new. Countries and cities have been “campaigning” to host sporting events for decades. Qatar is just a new player in an old game.
Looks like the tournaments are headed straight for the ‘Gutter’.
