He’s sucking all the fun out of it.
It does seem like a ridiculous loophole, yes. But Saudi-style Islam isn’t the only religion offering us these weird ways to follow the letter of the law without necessarily following its spirit, so I can’t get especially worked up about it. I guess having grown men drink breast milk may be squickier than most loopholes, though.
This said, I agree that Saudi Arabia doesn’t seem like an especially good place to live.
To me it’s looking better every day.
Janet Jackson is a secret Muslim!
Wow. Of all the things to Pit about Saudi Arabia, I wouldn’t have expected this one.
It appears, however, that there is another school of thought:
I predict the sudden emergence of a fervent “Huwainiyite school” of Islamic jurisprudence here on the Dope. ![]()
So, is there any aspect of Saudi Islam that isn’t entirely centered on sex?
Tris
Well, the floggings are purely punitive in nature.
The whole region is going tits-up.
Don’t they realize it’s more “natural” to get it straight from the “tap”?
Just like God intended.
Actually, it seems the parts about sex have very little to do with sex, and more to do about not having it.
I believe women have to either be pregnant or in close contact with a nursing baby to give milk, i.e., nursuing it. I do not know if adult men can “fill in” for babies here … but I am sure some will try.
What’s wrong with Saudi Arabia? Fundamentalist Islam.
** groans**
Well, Mencken dd refer to relgious leaders generally as “boobs”. so there’s precedent.
Would “flatus particulate siblings” hold the same legal weight as “breast milk siblings?” That would be eaisier to arrange.
Well, I guess it’s like Rose-a-Sharif in The Grapes of Baath…
What I’m wondering is do the men only have to drink it once and that’s it? POOF Instant siblings for eternity! Or is the effect temporary, and the men must reload after a certain amount of time? Seems to me it might be prudent to convert a batch to cheese and throw it in the fridge in case the woman is away.
Reading the link, it seems some of the women are arguing that it takes 5 “filling” meals to make a person (infant, presumably)…uh…kosher…under this idea. They’re saying that the male clerics just don’t get it, and they simply can’t make that much milk for grown men!
I saw what you did there.
What is a non-lactating woman supposed to do?
We all did- and it was wonderful.
I’m kind of loving the mental image I have of the new Saudi burkha–the woman is entirely covered except for her breasts sticking out of the two holes in the front of it.
