So like - does it always have to be beforehand? What if a guy accidentally sees a girl’s face? Is she going to be lashed for it? Could he say “oh shit I saw your face! Quick, let me suck your tits!” to smooth the situation over? Because that seems like it would definitely preserve modesty.

I think this is what happens in any society that is as sexually repressed as the Saudis. It fucks up the brain, leading to all sorts of bizarre behavior.

As for the OP the Saudis are simply scum. They’re paranoid, mysogenist, backwards assholes and the best argument for reducing our reliance on oil as a source of energy. Here’s an insane little recent New York Times article in which grown Saudi women actually argue they need a guardian to supervise their own lives as if they were errant five year olds. It is nearly impossible to have any sort of respect for a culture that creates adult women who think like that.
While Saudi Arabia is admittedly fucked up, it is important to note that most Saudis thought the breast milk fatwa was pretty weird too.
