What the heck is shocking me as I lie in bed? (long-ish)

First of all, welcome aboard. I’m glad that you found us as a potential source for an answer to your problem, and it would be awesome if we could provide the help you seek (the collective “we.” I mostly stand around and watch).

Some observations: Idle_Thoughts, the OP, has not posted for more than 18 months (and not to this thread for more than ten years), and it’s not clear that the cause of the problem was ever definitively determined. If the Dope is going to succeed for you, we should treat this as a new issue.

So far, you’ve given us good information, but more might be useful. How long has this been happening to you? How long have you had your bed in its present position? How long have you had the bed? What type of flooring do you have (hardwood? Carpeting?)? What type of rooms are above and below you? Are electric outlets two- or three-pronged? How old is this building? And how frequently are the shocks occurring? Is there a particular time of the night that they tend to happen?

I wish you the best of luck in finding the answers to your issue.
