What this country needs is another 9/11!

Homer: Not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol must be working like a charm!
Lisa: That’s specious reasoning, Dad.
Homer: Thank you, dear.
Lisa: By your logic I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away.
Homer: Oh, how does it work?
Lisa: It doesn’t work.
Homer: Uh-huh.
Lisa: It’s just a stupid rock.
Homer: Uh-huh.
Lisa: But I don’t see any tigers around, do you?
Homer: Lisa, I want to buy your rock.

He’s in charge. That makes it his fault.

Seve, that was exactly what I was coming in here to post.

Hah!

Did Bush fuck up when he decided to invade Iraq?

We’ve already read enough of your digressive blatherings; a simple “YES” or “NO” will suffice.

Conservatives who pine for the unity among Americans that existed following 9/11 have only to blame, root out and correct the vast numbers of conservative cunts who spent the last six years beating other Americans over the head with charges of loving Saddam (“Saddamite” anyone?), being Treasonous, hating America, being part of the Party of Death…

Why not work for unity by being thoughtful, collaborative, cooperative or at least fucking respectful of those who differ with you, instead of calling for another mass murder of Americans?

Evil One, why do you hate America so much that you want an attack against us to succeed?

I’m aware of that. I don’t think torture really bothers “the vast majority of Americans” in the first place.

Other people have already dealt with this highly specious reasoning, so I won’t pile on.

The questionable and illegal acts are the stated policy of the government, which makes it foolish to dismiss concerns about wiretapping and surveillance as “paranoid fantasies about “slippery slopes” and shadowy men in sunglasses listening to your phone call to your Aunt Marge.”

You’re right. Why oh why did I pick that post to debut my new sig line, “There’s no problem here, so let’s all go down to the First Church of Limp-Wristed Leftiness and worship at the Altar of Political Correctness!?”

My feelings after 9/11 were not happy fuzzy feelings. What I felt most was an overwhelming sadness. The Paul Simon song “American Tune” summed it up for me. Though the song had been written years before, it seemed to fit perfectly. Video clip.
