So we’ve got 4ish hours to knock around Philadelphia, near the University of the Arts (on East Oregon Avenue) - tomorrow afternoon.
What’s near there that might be fun and/or educational?

Yeesh - corrected address for where we’ll be is on South Broad Street; the Oregon Avenue address is something else.
Yeah, I was thinking that’s not where UArts is.
Assume you’ve got a map:
You’re walking distance from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and Broad and Cherry, which is near Reading Terminal Market (12th and Filbert), which is a good place to go get lunch (nation’s oldest indoor farmer’s market). Slightly longer walk to the Academy of Natural Science (19th and the Parkway) and the Franklin Institute (20th and the Parkway), but it’s supposed to be nice weather this weekend. There’s a big biennial arts festival going on right now – the Kimmel Center, which is extremely close to where you’ll be (Broad and Spruce), has a big interactive time machine. Seriously.
Thanks!! Are you in Philly? (you seem to know the area pretty well).
I grew up in PA but not that part of the state, and have literally never been “to” Philadelphia (traveled through it a lot though).
Since you haven’t spent much time in Philly, visiting the historic sites might be fun. Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell and that whole area is around a 30 minute walk from where you will be at (depending on your speed). It’s neat walking around those cobblestone streets and getting caught up in the tourist masses. The Constitution Center is worth visiting, too.
If you have a sweet tooth Capogiro Gelato is well worth trying out. There’s one at 13th and Sansom.
Come eat lunch at my restaurant; I’ll be working a double tomorrow across the street from the Reading Terminal.
That’s not very exciting though.
Yup, and yup.
And another “yup” – if you’ve never done the historic district, that would probably be a better destination than the ones I listed. I knew you were a MAD, didn’t realize you’d never been to Philly.
Maggiano’s? We had a Dopefest there once.
