What to See and Do in Washington DC - an Informative MMP

Beebs, I know most people in health care think the ruling is the equivalent to blood services cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Given the constant shortages, it seems pretty counterproductive to advise an entire section of society that their blood isn’t desirable. I remember this as a topic of discussion in a bioethics class I took nearly 10 yrs ago now, and even then my prof was talking as if this rule would soon be changing because it was so outdated. I guess it’s hard to move on and get with the times when the last blood services agency got taken down in a tainted blood scandal, huh?

Sorry work sucks. :frowning: It puts things into perspective… a hard day at the office for me never involves loss of lives.

Nava, I knew I liked Spain for a reason. I was sure it was because of the amazing food and the wonderful weather, but I guess progressive blood donation policies works too.

Haze, everyone knows that furriners can’t speak English… even the ones with English degrees and all. Incidentally, at least one of the local colleges here makes all incoming students take a TOEFL, regardless of their nationality. Fluency isn’t a guarantee when you live in a city where some people live and die without ever having to speak a speck of English.

OK… off I go to make work for myself where no work exists. Apparently my boss thinks it’s “good preparation” to make sure we have a full PowerPoint deck for a Q&A session. (and no, a single slide with “Questions?” apparently doesn’t count)

I’m here at work for the morning, then the gym, then home to got to the airport and somewhere sunny for vacation!!! :: happy dance ::

All the hugs are so nice of y’all.

Hiya, boo!

I am very worried about taters. I hope she has just been busy.

{{{{{beebs}}}}} Somebody said the MMPers were too sweet. All I can say is it’s really nice to know you can come in here and be assured that we DO care.

Today is my Firday and there is much to do here at work so off to do it.

Tupug

They must not have read the night shift’s posts. **chaotic bear ** said we talk too much, that’s why he stopped coming around.

Finally, yes, please. Can we stop with the hugs and continue on with the plans for ultimate MMP destruction. You guys may be nice dammit, but I’m not dammit!

Also, mmouse9799 is looking for dates on your Boston visit. She’s harassing me like crazy so I’d like to get her off my back. (never sarcastic ever, not ever, no never)

What’s this, the Indy racetrack? Why is everybody driving by?

Where’s taters?

Mahna[sup]2[/sup], my replacement is now sitting at my work computer, so I’m at the Dope. Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it? Apparently I’m not being packed home, just moved to a different location, but nobody has told me yet. They told my agent when he called asking what’s going on after I told him I’ve just been introduced to my replacement, when someone introduces me to a young guy saying “this here is your replacement” I assume I’m being replaced. Mebbe I should work on my corporate communication skills. I’m sure those demotivator guys have some good posters for corporate communication; I love their “consulting” one because it so perfectly reflects the kind of consultants that make me want to go postal.

Back to checking email.

(anti-hug)

Anti-hugs? Hmm, I like it.

You will be spared.

Muppet, remember this from last week? Well, I just found out TB is going to a partners’ meeting in Barcelona in mid-April! Grrrr! Not to mention the subsequent marketing trips to Frankfurt and Stockholm! :stuck_out_tongue:

kai, I can’t remember if I said so or not but Tea is beautiful! The first thing that popped into my head when I looked at the pics was, “My, what big blue eyes you have!”

beebs, no glurge from me. Just a reassurance that you will never destroy us because our plans for the next generation are already well advanced, aren’t they LiLi?

Sigh, HRH is asleep and hubby has gone out to “change the air”, i.e. get a breath of fresh air and a change of atmosphere after looking after HRH all afternoon! At least my working week is over - Yay for the weekend! Although I don’t get my sleep-in 'til Saturday, I am still mightily glad that there is no work tomorrow!

90% of Spain hates Madrid. The other 10% lives there.

pops in for a minutes… hugs those who needs it

Ugh, so tired today even while caffeinated and dozing on the bus to work. Dunno why exactly, it’s not like I was in bed that late… eleven, and only that late because I had my last spinning class last night… and the teacher brought in fleece to give to us! Lovely fleece, still smelling like sheep and with lanolin… the fleece I took was corland I think she said… or maybe I misheard/forgot because I can’t find a breed of that name anywhere… the closest I can find is corriedale… whatever, it’s nice fleece and I can’t wait to try and spin it…

And I’m babbling so I’d better go back to work. ttfn

I keep thinking you’re doing an exercise/biking spinning class and then get all confused when you talk about yarn. :smack: :stuck_out_tongue:

Not that much going on at work today. I hate the filler type work that I’m supposed to do on days like this. Just no motivation to actually DO it.

vrooooOOOOOM

SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEECH

Hi! Bye!

VROOOOOooooom

**Taters ** posted elsewhere on Saturday - I just pm’d her and asked her to poke her head in here

Well, if you think asking once, in response to something that you brought up is ‘harassing you like crazy,’ then yes, I’ve harassed you like crazy. :stuck_out_tongue:

You were a good set of wheels, although you pegged the geek scale because you were a station wagon.

I bought you at 119K miles, and in the 2 -1/2 years I had you, I put on 60K more.

You had your moments of maintenance hell. Radiators don’t come cheap, nor do starters, but those things are expected with your kind of mileage.

More often than not you were dependable, comfortable to ride in, and you got decent mileage despite being a tank.

The end came last month, when you started missing again very soon after having a couple of injectors changed. I knew it was time, and voted you out at tribal council, for a new/old Chevy Beretta, older by model year, but with half of your odometer miles. And a crappy old '85 Ford F150 pickup truck.

Today, I sold you, my precious '97 Mercury Sable, for $500. You were certainly worth the $2k difference in purchase and selling price.

Good riddance.

::salutes NerdMobile::

Nice knowing you, NerdMobile. Although we didn’t really know you. Well, we knew you indirectly.

Awww…RIP, NerdMobile.

I’m here. I crawled in bed early last night to watch the Project Runway finale, and ended up sleeping through more than half of it. :smack: At least I woke up long enough to see who won. And then went back to sleep.

I needn’t have bothered; today I’m working on congressional [del]drivel[/del] testimony about financial derivatives – prepaid forward contracts, exchange traded notes, etc. Just kill me now, okay? ::yawn:: There’s not enough caffeine in the world to keep me awake for this one!

Anyway, don’t have too much fun. I’ll be back. Eventually. When I manage to wake up. (Which probably won’t be till this [del]drivel[/del] job is done!)

I’m here after running errands all morning. Whose idea was that? We now have food in the pantry, meds being prepped for us and a dozen bagels. The bagels kinda piss me off–they usually give a baker’s dozen, except this one chick who doesn’t. I got her today, but had forgotten about her cheapitude. So, as I put them into freezer bags, I noted only 12. <sigh. My life is one of constant toil and hardships like this>
Pugs–I meant to post yesterday, but (obviously) forgot. I am sorry for your loss; sounds like the critter had a good run. Thank you for doing the right thing and relieving her(his?) suffering.
I dunno from Madrid, but it sounds like Detroit or Cleveland to me. Blech.

The Husband is working from home today. <see previous aside re hardships etc>
