What to See and Do in Washington DC - an Informative MMP

Well, true that. I mean if a man has this what more could he ever need for formal wear.

We only care if the male DOESN’T show up.
I am done with my homework (for now–now the other group members need to contribute. I hate group projects).
I’m contemplating a hot bath and a movie. Or a book. Like this is any different than any other Saturday night in my life. That’s not a complaint (although it would be nice to go out a bit more. But who with?)
ETA: that looks like the tux The Husband took me to Prom in (yes, he wore all white–why didn’t I run then? Oh, yeah-it was 1980)

Damn. I had another really good quote for beebs earlier that I was going to post. And now I forget it.

Wow… I don’t know what to say…

Actually, swampy, I was thinking about your HS pic… :stuck_out_tongue:

Any discussion of wedding wear is incomplete without a link to Uglydress.com. There’s even a page for the fellas.

I promised to tell y’all what was up with the Archivin’ right? Here goes:

A couple of weeks ago, one of the Grad Assistants, we’ll call her Annoyance, was assigned to clean up the manuscript stacks. A donor is coming next week to see them, and they look like they’ve been used and not really straightened in several years–which is the case. Annoyance goes off into La-La Land and does nothing about straightening the stacks. This is most likely directly related to the fact that the lady who unofficially runs the place has been out the last two weeks. On Wednesday, the stacks still looked like mildly organized hell. Spring Break started yesterday at 5 pm EST. Annoyance then proceeded to foist the major freakin’ project off on everyone else. (There are over 1000 collections covering several thousand individual boxes.) So for the last couple of days we’ve all been dusting and straightening like mad. I ended up with the aisle that has 500,000 century-old ledgers that weigh 498 lbs. apiece. The ledgers had to be vacuumed. I’ve been cussing the last two days about that.

There was also a crispy cockroach on one of my shelves. That was one determined little bug to come all the way up to the fourth floor.

Movie Night Host and I both came in today to finish up–he because he was scheduled to be in today anyway, me because I’ll be damned if the last 19 shelves in my section were going to remain dusty over the weekend. We and the other GAs are forming a lynch mob to go after Annoyance. She’s already pissed off everyone because she thinks she’s everyone’s boss, this is just the final nail in the coffin. In the words of the great Roman orator Cato, Annoyance delenda est. Annoyance must be destroyed. You do NOT get a project and then make everyone else work on it. We all have enough to do, thank you.

But now my section is done and I don’t have to worry about it. I may pop in later on this week to see the size of the hole in the ceiling because In-Charge Lady is going to create another skylight when she finds out what’s been going on. I’ve got the popcorn, all I need is a lawn chair.

ETA: A comic for Rigs

Nice. At least I’m reading for fun and profit (ie, not schoolwork).

Off to uglydress.com to see if any of my clothes are there.

I think this is more your style…

Ok, so I hate to ruin everyone’s fun. But I’ve been looking at dresses that might actually be decent for** FCM**. Here’s what I’ve found.

Simple navy dress with rhinestones. Also available in other colors.
Here’s a nice garnet dress, but possibly a little bit too low-cut, I don’t know.
A very pretty pink two piece.

More pink, figure flattering, but possibly too busy.
This one, also pink, I like quite a bit. Definitely my favorite. Of course, YMMV.

Also, here’s a plus size shopping guide.

This is the most horrifying thing I’ve ever seen. You have been warned.

What aboutthis?

Ugh, that is truly revolting, Spaz.

Not much happening here, I cleaned for awhile, MIL came to visit with us for a bit, and some friends invited us to go the casino. We passed on the casino thing. We also installed new fans and a video card in one of our computers and now that thing is nice and quiet. That thing was so noisy we put it upstairs so we wouldn’t have to listen to it run.

Tomorrow, we’re going out for breakfast to Mr. Taters’ favorite breakfast joint. I’ll have to pick up a few groceries and run a few other errands too.

That will be the extent of my ever-so-exciting weekend.

there are not enough  smilies in the world for that one. Ya really gotta watch how you move in that thing - and then, didja see? LEGWARMERS!

Taters, we’re listening and thinking of you

Spaz’s link… sort of hot. Give me a break. There are boobs, and I’m a guy.

It was about “corn-holing” wasn’t it?

No, I just saw boobs.

I got this figgered out, see. First you where the leg-warmer/tape measure outfit, then you end up having to wear the hole-in-the-middle aka doughnut dress. Yessirree Bob–that’s the way of it.

Really need to go do something. I like the navy dress Pie linked to–and the flowery pink one (if it’s a very springy day, that dress would be nice). I didn’t actually go looking for FCM–I got caught up in uglydress.com–too funny!

You people. I just ate, and have to look at those creations?

BTW swampy, that was my senior prom tux.

Morning all! I found this for FCM - stylish and attractive, in a nice, don’t-upstage-the-bride, muted kind of mauve colour!

Taters, great to see you back in here! I hope things will be looking up for you from now on!

Okay, time to stop faffing and get to work!

I missed the legwarmers until you mentioned them and I went back to look. I was too stunned to notice them.

I like the first link Pie gave, but not the blue. I like the green better, black wouldn’t be good for a wedding (I missed the post about this when I scanned… it is a wedding you’re going to FCM?)

I’m home. I had a great evening, we had supper then hit the highway and I got to drive! I got to practice a bit on the back roads, then my friend got to practice and when we were done her fiance (who is giving us tips and teaching, though we already took classes this is extra study) took the wheel and we drove around out of the city and looked at the sky… saw the Aurora Borealis! It was very faint, but you could just tell what it was because it was different from the clouds (in another area of sky). We were just at the right angle to notice it, we lost it when we started back into the city.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I’ve heard of bookworms, but that’s just ridiculous.

Rigs, I think I can sue for racial discrimination if you slap me with a koi instead of a trout. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just got back from hanging out with Mr Cheerio and his girlfriend. We watched a Russian movie called Autumn Marathon, which is about a guy who can’t say no to anyone, and is caught between his wife and his lover. Inevitably the post-movie talk drifted off into the subject of That Guy and I, which basically consisted of both of them slapping with with a metaphorical wet trout. Hah.
