What tune was number one the day you were born?

“The Third Man” theme by Anton Karas. Nice to know; great tune.

In my case: Escape (The Piña Colada Song)" by Rupert Holmes.

If I`d been born a year earlier it could have been “Le Freak.”

January 29, 1972.

“American Pie” by Don McLean

And, of course, I despise it. Blech.

More Riddle info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nelson_Riddle

He did all of the music on The Red Skelton Show and was a well respected arranger/composer.

You have my deepest sympathy.

“Ugh, Ugh, My Heart” by Cronk and the Cavement, 12,000 BC.

Actually “Cold, Cold Heart” by Tony Bennett. (1951) But people saying they were born when Angie was #1 makes me feel old. I was in grad school then, and people yelled it out at a Paul Simon concert I went to.

You can hear a snippet of it here on Launch.

Ah, and Black & White by Three Dog Night.

1967 … “Hello Goodbye” by The Beatles

no real relevance I can think of, but a nice little tune

New Years Eve ftw!

“Till the End of Time” by Perry Como

Er, September 1972 for my birth btw as well.

“Mack the Knife” by Bobby Darin 11-29-58

I think that’s the only song he put out if you hear it you’ll know why. He was Hutch of the original “Starsky And Hutch” not in any way related to that stupid movie. Also he starred on a show called “Here comes the Brides (I think)” with Bobby Sherman. No I won’t explain who Bobby Sherman is

and stay off my lawn. damn kids

“Joy to the World” by Three Dog Night

mmm, suitable for the grand occasion of Our birth, yesss!

“Pony Time” by Chubby Checker.

It’s worth noting that I don’t recognize any of the songs on my list after 1998. I’m becoming a geezer.

Finally. A thread where I know the lyrics and the songs!

I think I know everyone’s song except mine: “Comin’ In on a Wing and a Prayer” by The Song Spinners

Sounds appropriate for a birth – just not mine. I was breach-born. (July 14, 1943) I prefer to think of it as between “Opus One” and “String of Pearls.”
[bJXJohns**, if I remember correctly, “Get Back” was the last song performed together in public by the Beatles – (rooftop concert at Apple studio).

I’m sure they meant nothing personal.

Maneater 1/1/83

A mawkish, manipulative tear-jerker, which was pretty much BG’s stock in trade. If ever you want a song to be sad by, and can listen with a straight face, that’ll do the trick. I never quite figured out what Honey died of, though.

Mine was “Cathy’s Clown” by The Everly Brothers, though I’d sooner have had the UK chart info myself. 31st May 1960.

“Cathy’s Clown” by the Everly Brothers. (June 18, 1960)

 I posted MY song before reading to the end of the thread… now what are the chances of having 2 have the same song back to back like this, totally by accident?
I think I hear the Twilight Zone theme, softly in the background…

“The Doggie in the Window” by Patti Page
May 9, 1953
Arf arf!

I can’t believe I finally came into a thread where I’ve known every single song!
