What tune was number one the day you were born?

You know what was playing on Billboard the months in April/May 1970 when my horny, unmarried parents conceived me in college…?

Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Waters
The Beatles - Let It Be
Jackson 5 - ABC

Think the universe was trying to tell my parents something?

Flash forward nine months to December 31st. George Harrison’s Isn’t It A Pity? was the top tune in the nation the day I was born.

Oh, man…!

Of course, one year later, it was the far more acceptable Three Dog Nights’ Joy To The World.

I’ve been up all night with the flu so sorry for the highjack. Are you telling us that you have never heard that song? Wow… just wow. What do kids these days consider classics, which “When Doves Cry” certainly is?

“Wooden Heart (Muss I Denn)” by Joe Dowell

Who dat? I always heard it with Elvis.

8/27/61

But on the album that had that song, American Fool he went by the name of John Cougar. Same guy though. (That was a high school song for me. Had two friends, Diane and Jack, who were dating when that one came out.)

1983/10/10: “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler.

Score!

aaaargh! Mine was the title theme to a B horror movie about rats!

“Ben” by Michael Jackson (Oct. 14, 72)

I

Oops, hit submit too soon.

At least I wasn’t born one day later, or it would have been “My Ding-a-Ling” by Chuck Berry

“Too Much”–Elvis Presley (2/3/57)

“Lean on Me” by Bill Withers (7/16/1972)

I like that song, and I don’t think it’s been mentioned yet.

How 'bout that? Yikes.

Make that Disneyland (07-17-1955). Rock Around the Clock

“Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)” by The Temptations

Yeah, ain’t that the story of my life…

I don’t know every song that’s been mentioned on this thread, but so far I’ve known every song that someone has said they didn’t know.

Actually, neither! The Billboard chart is headlined “Week ending December 2, 1967.” If the week ended on December 2 (a Saturday, by the way), then the week would have incorporated November 27 (Nov. 26-Dec. 2). For what it’s worth, the #1 song the week before that (week ending 11/25/67) was Strawberry Alarm Clock’s Incense and Peppermints. “I’ll Be There for You” by Bon Jovi

May 13th, 1989

9 November 1972: “I Can See Clearly Now” by Johnny Nash

Mine was “Witch Doctor” by David Seville

Mrs.Winterbottom’s was “I Heard It Through the Grape Vine” by Marvin Gaye

LittleMissWinterbottm’s was “Everything You Want” by Vertical Horizon

“Oh, Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison.

“Hard to Say I’m Sorry,” by Chicago.

Well. Fuck that.

I don’t recognize anything on my list after '99.

“Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” by Steam

What’s really odd is that I went back exactly nine months from my 16 year old daughter’s birthdate and her favorite song is listed- Sweet Child O’ Mine by G & R!

I did the same for myself and got Dizzy by Tommy Roe. Not exactly my favorite song so that theory’s a bust.

Hit the Road Jack- Ray Charles
I can SO live with that,
