What TV series did you anticipate most eagerly?

Oh, God, yes, the original Night Stalker. McGavin worked so hard to keep the show from turning into Monster of the Week, but bean counters and hacks got the upper hand. Is there anything at all to recommend the (ugh) remake?

Kung Fu - just the opposite–the pilot movie and first season were under a talented and committed producer, but Carradine started sticking his (mystical) nose into it and Blammo! Has one the best dialog exchanges in TV history:

“Do you hear the grasshopper that is at your feet?”

“Old man, how is it that you hear these things?”

“Young man, how is it that you do not?”

The Day the Universe Changed – I had loved James Burke’s series Connections on PBS, so when I heard he was doing another one, I couldn’t wait. I wasn’t disappointed.

I was in similar anticipation when I heard about Connections 2 on TLC, but it wasn’t quite as good. Connections 3 was more of the same. I’d love to see them again (I’ve recorded many episodes, but not att of them).

The Big Bang Theory. I simply loved Johnny Galeki and Sara Gilbert on Roseanne. The reviews said it was a cliché shoe that probably wouldn’t last very long.

But they did not realize the absolute comic genius of Jim Parsons.

Better Call Saul

Without a doubt…Batman!

Then, of course, The Monkees! and maybe more than even Batman The Green Hornet. That didn’t work out quite so well. Then, of course, Herman’s Head. I also anticipated Nero Wolf. That was a let down.

I remember having my interest piqued by all the build up to the original ‘Heroes’ - Save the cheerleader, save the world. After hearing that over and over, you really started to want to know what the heck it was all about.

Game of Thrones, by far. I’ve been a fan of the books since forever, and once they announced that Peter Dinklage would be playing Tyrion, I was ready for it to be awesome. And it delivered.

This comes to mind for me also.
As well as the crashing disappointment inspired by Encounter at Farpoint. I mean, seriously. Geez!

I liked the wolfman on a cruise ship ep…you know you’re in trouble when the captain is asking if they can outrace the moon.

The invisible aliens one was good.

Liked the voodoo one, and the headless motorcycle one.

Hell, compared to most TV shows it was still great with the fantastic cast and the chemistry they had.

“I sense great pain!”

And then “The Naked Now” and then the one with Tasha kidnapped? ugh…

You’re actually 100% correct, I binge-watched the whole series 4 or 5 months ago and it’s nowhere near as bad as everyone says. The entire cast gives it their all, and that carries it a long way.

In the voodoo one, the shambler takes the bus to his victims and back. Brilliance!

Star Trek TNG, like a lot of other people. Mildly disappointing, but not terrible.

To name a show that no one thankfully remembers “The Bob Crane Show” a 1975 sitcom about a man in his 40s who quits his job selling insurance to go to medical school. I had hopes for this because it was from MTM Enterprises. But it was no “Mary Tyler Moore” or “Bob Newhart Show”.

You guys you guys hey wait up you guys!

They’ve been showing previews for a show that takes place IN OUTER SPACE!
(Sure, they’re in black and white, but the only color TV in town belongs to the rich old widow piano teacher, and it’s mostly green and magenta so who cares)

It’s got the cool guy who played Zorro every Saturday morning. And Lassie’s mom, and one of the Trapp family kids, and a tall blonde. And it’s IN OUTER SPACE! With a spaceship and an evil (but oddly swishy) doctor AND A ROBOT! That TALKS! And they’re lost in OUTER SPACE!

This is gunna be the BEST thing about fourth grade! Let’s watch it at all our sleepovers.

^ digs, when I get my tree-house built, you’re invited over–it’ll be great. We’ll call it the Gemini-12, cuz only real fans of the show know what that means.

^ Ok, burpo, as long as it’s a No Gurls ALowd treehouse… with cupholders.
