What TV to buy?

OK so my 42 inch Panasonic plasma TV took a tumble on Monday during the 6.3 aftershock we had (and landed on my Firefly box set :frowning: ).

So, my question is what am I going to replace it with?

What’s the value for money brand at the moment and is there any real difference between big brand TV’s (ie should I just get the reputable brand that’s on special this week?).

I’m thinking 50 inch Plasma (I only play Xbox once in a blue moon these days) but Mrs Pantani might take a bit of convicing as I don’t think she gets the whole idea that they guy who dies with the biggest TV wins (I think its a gender thing).

And yes, I know this has been asked before, but things change, yadda yadda.

The one I went with, the Sony Bravia EX620, is outstanding. They make them in multiple sizes, including 55 inches.

What did you like/dislike about the 42" Panasonic?
Was glare ever an issue? Did you often wish the picture were larger?
If you had no issues with what you had I’d replace it with the same thing.
